‘TRIPLE THREAT’ Idols You Need to Know – EXO Version

The word TRIPLE THREATS is used to refer multitalented people who excel in singing, dancing, and acting.

We previously dropped a PART 1, where we featured some amazing idols and this is the second part. We had to make an it an all-EXO version, because this group is filled with insanely talented members who are all triple threat! You will know what we are talking about as you read. 

EXO is a 9 member K-POP group that debuted as a 12 member group in 2012 under SM Entertainment and currently consists of Suho, Xiumin, D.O., Chanyeol, Chen, Sehun, Baekhyun, Kai, and Lay. They are one of the most popular and loved boy groups with a huge fanbase, not just in South Korea, but worldwide.  But did you know they are more talented than you think they are? Apart from being TRIPLE THREATS, they are also a treat to the eyes. In no particular order, let’s dive right into it!

D.O. (Doh Kyung-Soo)

 

 

D.O. is the main vocalist of EXO. His powerful vocals and ad-libs always stand out and elevate every song. As we talk about how superior his vocal skills are, he is an exceptionally good dancer and nails every choreography but he is also an incredible and versatile actor. He made his acting debut with a supporting role in the movie “CART” in  in 2014 and made his debut on the small screen by playing a supporting role in the SBS drama “It’s Okay, that’s Love” in the same year. He was praised by various film critics for his acting and even won the Most Popular Actor at the 55th Baeksang Awards. His most notable dramas and movies are “Pure Love,” “My Annoying Brother,” “Room No. 7,” “Positive Physique,” “Swing Kids, “100 Days My Prince,” and “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds.” He has bagged 19 awards for his impressive acting skills and is known to be the best actor among all the members. Such is his dedication that he learned Tap Dance for his role in “Swing Kids.”

Chanyeol (Park Chan-Yeol)

 

 

Chanyeol is the main rapper of EXO but some of you might not be aware of the fact that, he is an exceptionally great and praiseworthy singer which was proved with his mesmerizing cover of John Legend’s “All Of Me,” in the “EXO-Love CONCERT in DOME” in 2015. His stage presence is so strong along with his facial expressions, which makes him a true idol. 

But apart from rapping, singing, and dancing, our “Reversal Voice,” as he likes to call himself, is a great actor as well. He made his acting debut on Big screen by playing a supporting role in the movie “Salut d’Amour.” His more notable movie and dramas are “So I Married an Anti-fan,” “Memories of Alhambra,” and “Missing Nine,” His most recent movie “The Box” received a lot of praise and charted as well. 

 

 

EXO’s Chanyeol is Reportedly Enlisting Next Month

Chanyeol is currently enlisted but he made sure his fans get to see him every week through his YouTube channel, he also released “Tomorrow” as part of SM Station.  What a thoughtful idol and what lucky fans!

 

 Suho (Kim Jun-Myeon)

 

 

Suho is the leader, lead vocalist, and visual of EXO. His nice and calm tone soothes the audience and his stable voice with an amazing vocal range makes his singing rich. His dance in “Obsession” is something I can never get over! In 2016, He made his acting debut on big screen with indie film “One Way Trip.” His other movies and dramas where he made cameo and also starred include “Student A,” “To the Beautiful you,” “Prime Minister & I,” “How Are U Bread,” “The Universe’s Star,” and “Rich Man”.  He is a great musical actor as well and his musical “The Man who Laughs” was appraised by everyone who attended.

He is currently serving in the military. Did you know Suho visited India as part of the KBS TV Show, ‘Fluttering India’?

Xiumin (Kim Min-Seok)

 

 

Xiumin is the sub-vocalist and sub-rapper of EXO. You might mistake him as the maknae of the group because of his looks but he is the Hyung, the eldest. According to Chanyeol, he looks cute but is manly. The 31-year-old singer/dancer/rapper made his acting debut in 2015 with a web drama “Falling for Challenge.” It was the most-watched web drama in South Korea in 2015. He also starred in the movie “Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River” in 2016. We love actor Xiumin and would love to see more of his acting.

 

 

He has been announced recently as a part of the cast in the upcoming Korean version of the musical “Hadestown.” The performance is scheduled to begin in August at the LG Art Center in Gangnam, Seoul. In fact, this musical is being performed for the first time in South Korea. He can also be seen in “Drink with God” as an MC with Shin Dong Yup and is currently starring in a brand new web reality show titled “Xiumin’s Tennis King Tomorrow.”

In related news, earlier today it was confirmed by SM Entertainment that Xiumin has tested Positive for Covid-19 and has halted all his activities. All other EXO members and his staff members are currently in self-quarantine while they wait for results.

Sehun (Oh Se-Hun)

 

 

Sehun is the lead rapper, lead dancer, and also, one of the visual of the Group. Do I even need to say anything else? He is the maknae of the group and an extremely talented member. One of his many talents also includes acting. He made his acting debut in 2012 with a cameo in “To the Beautiful You.” He did several other acting projects like “Royal Villa,” “EXO Next Door,” and “Secret Queen Makers.” Sehun also starred in ‘Catman’ and ‘Dear Archemedes’ and fans are eagerly waiting for it to hit screens worldwide. 

We are looking forward to seeing more of actor Sehun and also channelling his solo debut. To think of it, this is the same member who ran away from the casting agent but look at where he is right now! He has come such a long way and rightly so. 

 

 

Kai (Kim Jong-In)

 

 

Kai holds the following positions in the group

• Main dancer
• Sub Rapper
• Sub Vocalist
• Center
• Visual

 

This man was born to be a diamond Idol and no, you cannot change my mind. He is basically the Dance Machine of the group and he is a great actor too! I think I am in love! He also made his small screen debut with a cameo in “To the Beautiful You.” His other Korean dramas include “Choco Bank,” “First Seven Kisses,” “Andante,” and “Miracle That We Met.” He also starred in a Japanese Drama “Spring Has Come” in 2018. Kai made his solo debut in November 2020 with a solo album named  “KAI” with a sultry title track “Mmmh” and he made sure to dominate charts worldwide including India and made many fangirls and fanboys go “Mmmh.”

Baekhyun (Byun Baek-Hyun)

 

 

Baekhyun is the main vocalist of EXO. His cheerful personality is also the reason he is loved by so many. He released his 3rd EP “BAMBI” in March 2021 and like all EXO members, he charted as well. Have you listened to it? If not, go listen to it right now. You don’t want to miss out on a masterpiece now, do you?

 

 

Due to his busy schedule, he hasn’t participated in many acting projects but in the ones he did, we loved watching him as an actor. He starred in the web Drama EXO Next Door. He also acted alongside IU in the K-Drama “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” in 2016. Fans just loved Baekhyun’s character in it!

He was also seen in the musical, “Singin in the Rain” in 2014. Baekhyun is currently serving in the military as a social service worker but even when he is away, like Chanyeol, he makes sure he serves content to his fans.

Lay (Zhang Yixing)

 

 

Lay is the Main Dancer, Sub Vocalist, and Sub Rapper. He plays the guitar and piano too! He acted in a number of Chinese movies like “Ex Files 2: The Backup Strikes Back,” “Oh My God,” “Kung Fu Yoga,” and “The Founding of an Army” and was also part of few Chinese Dramas which include “The Mystic Nine” and “Operation Love.” He will be seen next in an upcoming drama “Crime Crackdown.”

Lay is also a music composer/producer and has also founded Changsha Chromosome Entertainment in October 2020. Few months back, he also announced global trainee recruitment! Truly, a star!

Chen (Kim Jong-Dae)

 

 

Chen is the main vocalist of the group and is one of the finest vocalists in the K-POP industry. He also lends his voice to various K-Drama OSTs and his voice really makes not only EXO-L’s heart go crazy but fans of K-Dramas as well! Apart from appearing in EXO Next Door and Sim For You, he guest starred in “The Miracle” and was also seen in the musical, “In The Heights.” He is not really active as an actor but if he ever plans on concentrating more in an acting, we will be leading the way to support him!

He made his debut as a soloist in 2019 with “April, and A Flower” and has released two solo albums as of now. He also released a single “Hello” before enlisting for mandatory military service. Chen is married and is the father of a baby girl!

 

 

All the members starred in the web Drama EXO Next Door alongside Moon Ga-young (lead female actress of True Beauty) and this was a really fun drama so even if you’re not an EXO-L, this should be on your watchlist. The members played fictionalized versions of themselves. The main characters of the web series are Chanyeol, D.O, Baekhyun, Sehun, Kai, and Suho. Though Kai and Suho have appeared only in a few episodes and the remaining members Xiumin, Lay, Chen, and Tao (now an ex-member) made cameo appearances in the show.  

There are many variety shows, web-dramas, reality shows, movies, dramas that EXO as a group or individually has been part of. Apart from that, some members have launched their own fashion label or is the ambassador of the biggest brands and let’s not forget the numerous other achievements and if we were to start listing everything, this could go on.  We thus handpicked and highlighted few and we hope that even if you’re not a EXO-L, you will start stanning them!

In other news, EXO made their long awaited comeback with a five-track special album “Don’t Fight the Feeling.” The title track which shares the same name as the the album charted at #1 in India and many more countries.
