BTS has officially made history as the first and only Asian and K-pop act to be featured on the Guinness World Records ICON list.
The ICON list honors visionaries, passionate achievers, and record-breakers in science, technology, sports, art, and activism who have made a lasting impact on Guinness World Records history.
Talking about why BTS is considered an ICON, Guinness World Records highlighted the group’s widespread global influence on its official website, stating:
“BTS (short for Bangtan Sonyeondan, Bulletproof Boy Scouts) not only introduced K-pop to the world but also made history with their genre-spanning music covering themes such as mental health, loneliness and coming of age.”
BTS joins the Pop Culture ICON list alongside some of the biggest global names, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Drake, Elton John, Mr Beast, and Paul McCartney, along with cultural icons like Barbie.
BTS has collectively achieved over 25 official Guinness World Records, cementing their legacy as global music icons through their dominance across YouTube, social media, and Billboard charts, as well as holding the record for the most-streamed male group in Spotify history.
Expanding their impact into solo careers, the members have added over 12 individual records to their name. Jung Kook leads the solo achievements with record-breaking streaming success for his hit ‘Seven,’ while Jimin holds major milestones for the most-streamed tracks on SoundCloud and rapid solo Spotify records. V (Kim Taehyung) has also set global benchmarks, becoming the fastest person to reach both 1 million and 10 million followers on Instagram, further highlighting the group’s unmatched global reach both collectively and individually.
From breaking countless records to shaping global conversations through their music and message, BTS continues to prove that their influence extends far beyond borders.
