B.I’s WATERFALL INTRO, LIVE FILM and Theories that Emotionally Connect Us with Him

B.I. released “WATERFALL INTRO and LIVE FILM” for his upcoming full length album “Waterfall” on 131 Label’s official YouTube channel. The video aimed to portray various emotions that describe Hanbin the best and hence making it convincing, that this album will be taking us on a whirlpool of emotions. So sit tight and feel the ride!

The Intro is very captivating and fans are in awe with his acting skills. There is a lot going on in the video and we can hear his already released tracks “Re-birth and Demo1.”

The “Track list Teaser ” which was released on 17 May KST shows 12 tracks in the album in which there are 2 tracks which has a ” feat..?? ” after the name of the title. Fans are predicting it’s CL and Bobby or Tablo, as they can hear a voice of a female artist in the “Intro Film” at the end which resembles to CL. But even if it’s not them, we can still expect a big collaboration.

After all, B.I’s recent global single, “Got It Like That,” was with Destiny Rogers & Tyla Yaweh, produced by The Stereotypes has already reached 2.4 Million views.

A lot is associated with the No.12 in the upcoming album & the last track list is ‘Re-Birth,’ which brings a theory here.

Referencing to the video, June 12/2019, he has fallen (the day he left ikon) and in this June 12/2021 he rises again with ‘Re-Birth.’ This theory is based after counting each song from the album as 1 day, hence ‘Re-Birth’ falls on 12th.

After showing his versatility in the ‘WATERFALL’ INTRO FILM, B.I released ‘WATERFALL’ LIVE FILM and it didn’t feel any less than a ‘LIVE CONCERT!’

Seeing him in the spotlight again, holding that mic almost after 2 years is exactly what his fans could have asked for. It really felt like he was trying to speak his heart out through the MV as in his recent interview he mentioned that he is going to “tell his real life story through this album.”

Well he did what he said, the lyrics says everything from the starting to the end he said his whole journey so far, no wonder he gave title to the MV as ‘LIVE FILM ‘ because it was no less than a film. The lyrics that took everyone’s attention was –

“My name’s monster, my name’s sinner
My name’s hypocrite, my name’s crock”

Hanbin incorporated in his lyrics the disrespectful names given by K-media and haters who tried to pull him down. Hanbin showed a lot of emotion in this track where he tries to sing the story of his life, that has been through both the thick and the thin parts.

Fans showed him love by changing the lyrics to –

He is known for his amazing song writing skills how he plays with words and he did the same here as well,

“Waterfall, that begins with falling down
That’s me”

This line describes everything he referred to himself as a Waterfall which begins when it falls down, he indirectly said his journey has just started and that the fall wasn’t the end.

Reading theories or decoding them from videos help fans understand their artist better and can emotionally connect with them. K-POP MVs are known to have many hidden messages, and to decode some, fans have to go way back in order to make the connection. While understanding and coming with these theories, we sought to understand Hanbin more, and we hope that you are able to connect with this.

Here are few theories from Waterfall Intro Film:

1) We can hear the first song playing in the video is his already released song

“Re-Birth” the lyrics of this song ends at “tto manna uri” which means “we will meet again” and he’s standing in the tunnel where his background is all dark which can mean that now he is coming out from a dark (dark time).

2) After this, we see a zoomed-in eye scene, where in his eye balls , we can see a storm coming, filled with black/dark clouds. We can see similar lyrics in the ‘EPIK HIGH – 수상소감 (ACCEPTANCE SPEECH) ft. B.I’ where his part with Tablo was

“The dark clouds are still clouds

When I think about it, they look like me” so maybe it’s related or maybe not.

3) The next part we see him breaking the mirror out of pain and rage, he is crying and his heart is hurt. Here we see him breaking the mirror with his phone, maybe it’s when he got the news about himself and he was angry, he was hurting and blaming himself for the same.

4) Next we see him calling someone, he is crying, shaking, he was scared, he was accepting someone to answer his call but no one answered his call which can be about that dark time when he tried calling people to help him but no one stood up for him.

5) We then see a quick point in the video where he is standing showing his back and we hear crowd cheering. This can be about the time when he was at the peak of his career. He is famous everywhere and he’s a star.

6) But then we see him falling into the dark clouds, which means the time he got the sudden downfall in his career.

7) And then we see birds flying which can depict “freedom,” he is free now and is all ready to fly high and rise up.

8) We can see a lot of common scenes from the iKON’S previous MV’s here from the ‘I’M OK’ MV’s tunnel scene to eye scene to the falling one. He maybe took a lot from this MV, emotionally, because this was his last MV as an iKON member.

9) The last we see is flowing water as B.I always said “iKON should be like flowing water so they won’t break easily,” similarly we saw a lot of water in the recent iKON’s MV “Why Why Why.”

Here are a few more lyrical theories:

“Bukkeuleoun gwageoui jeonbu naemyeon
Issgi jil su issgileul haneul-e bil-eo bone”

Which means, “If I wash away all of the shameful past, I pray to the sky that it will be washed away.” Here again we have two meanings. So basically there is a prayer for rain where you rub your palms and pray to the sky /God for rain, and what is rain? It’s water that falls from the sky, so it’s WATERFALL and he wants it to wash the all past away.

“O son-e jwigo modeun geol
Naelyeo nohgo naseoya piga jedaelo tonghae”

Which means, “Oh everything I had in my hand, My blood flows properly after I let go.” This is another one of his amazing lines which again has hidden meaning, so whenever we make a fist our blood stops circulating but when we open it, it again starts circulating so he’s talking about his past. a time when was always angry himself. For everything he made a fist and held everything in but as soon as he started letting go of his past, everything starts relaxing around him his life started functioning. Everything started falling in place.

He also described himself as “Waterfall chum-eul chuneun waterfall”, which means, “I’m a Waterfall Dancing Waterfall”, because when the water falls it looks like it’s Dancing and when it falls down it doesn’t end as water is constant wherever it meets, it begins with the new flow.

In this entire song he called out his haters for talking bad about him and for giving him bad names. He simply shut them by saying that he is going to say all those things to himself, what they called him earlier. Now what more can they say? Because he has moved on from his past but you haters are still stuck on the same thing. So he is just going to move further and thank his fans, his family, and his well wishers for always staying by his side and never giving up on him. He is also grateful to God for being generous and bringing him back to life.

There can be many more theories and many assumptions but with what we know of Hanbin as fans, these are some of the theories we were able to decipher. Maybe this is right maybe this is wrong but whatever it is, we are glad he is back and one thing’s for sure, B.I is set to rise and nothing can stop him.

‘WATERFALL’ will be released through various online music sites at 6pm KST on June 1st.
