Episode 7’s ending has Team NH like,
For episode 7, production team has given us lot of thing to discuss about, so if you haven’t read the previous episode’s review, then do it already!
“Nevertheless” Review: Serendipity Or Not? (Episode 6) + Kim Min Gwi’s Cheating Controversy
Na Bi’s wavering feelings for Jae Eon and Sol-A lie motivated her to remove herself from his life as much as she can. She puts a distance between them by ghosting him and visiting her aunt, leaving him clueless about her whereabouts.
Jae Eon has decided to change for the better as he’s starting to feel “sick of himself.” Though it isn’t openly specified that this change is Na Bi’s influence, I’d like to believe it. Na Bi ghosting Jae Eon, especially when he wants to change hurt him. Of course he doesn’t say “Na Bi, I’m hurt,” but he says other UwU things which you will read soon in this review. Come let’s relive some nice moments together.
Well we all know what happened in the previous episode, he could take it no more and drives to meet Na Bi and this is how the two male leads meet.
Let’s dive into the review then.
The Love Triangle
Na Bi really needs to get her head straight on things
Na Bi’s shocked and confused stare at Jae was the caveat that Do Hyeok needed to know who is competitor was in the race to win her heart, and vice-versa. While Jae Eon throws in a mild smile to introduce himself, Do Hyeok in order to return the courtesy introduces himself, but with no expression on his face. Na Bi was dumbfounded and motionless, and the wind around them only grew heavier. Thankfully their classmates interrupted and saved the day before things could get anymore uncomfortable.
Back story: the art students have a workshop and they find a venue that happens to be near Na Bi’s aunt’s house. Do Hyeok is helping them set up a little.
Here is what I think was on Na Bi’s mind when she saw Park Jae Eon:
Confusion and maybe even guilt took over Na Bi when she saw Jae Eon there. Throughout their relationship the only person who has been consistent is Jae Eon. He knows what he wants and knows where to draw the line. Na Bi has been the maker and breaker of the cycle. One moment she feels done with him and the next we see her falling back for him. Though Jae Eon is a player, he has always taken her consent before things happen between them. Now, he’s even changing his ways, here and there, with his feelings for Na Bi intact.
So ultimately it is Na Bi’s wavering mind and heart that is keeping their unhealthy cycle going. She give herself false hope, gives him hope, and then strips it away when she doesn’t feel like being in the game anymore. Of course with butterfly boy trying to change, things look hopeful but sadly hopeful doesn’t mean definitive. Yes, he’s handsome and genuinely cares for her, even if it is not enough to be in a committed relationship. But after a point, Na Bi has to decide.
I’m guessing her wobbly mind that gives Jae Eon hope and strips it away led to this scene,
She blames herself.
Now let’s talk about Do Hyeok
Do Hyeok is not only aware of his competitor, but also noticed the air between Na Bi and Jae Eon. He watched Na Bi and Jae Eon whenever possible and even though doesn’t know the story, he was probably able to make out that,
- Jae Eon likes Na Bi
- Na Bi has residual feelings for him
- Na Bi gets a little jealous and annoyed watching Jae Eon spend time with other women
- Is Jae Eon sincere to Na Bi?
The friends group plan to go to the amusement park and invites Do Hyeok to join them. Na Bi said she’ll cover for him incase he wasn’t comfortable but…
Awwwww!
Their awkward drive to the amusement park was a huge giveaway for our second lead, the tension between Na Bi and Jae Eon was so awkward that even I was starting to feel a little uneasy watching the three in a small, closed space.
From the time he revealed to Na Bi about her being his first ever love, Do Hyeok has gained some confidence. He’s been calculating his every step towards winning her heart, but what he did not see coming was Jae Eon. With Jae Eon’s entry, Do Hyeok has been a little more straightforward about his feelings for Na Bi.
This scene for example, where he accepts in front of Na Bi’s friends that she was his first love and further even noticed Jae Eon’s reaction to it. He’s basically putting it out there that he will not give up without a fair chance in this race.
When his cousin Do Yeon tries to mildly hit on Jae Eon, Na Bi gets a little flustered, so Do Hyeok taking her inside with him to help out with the barbeque.
So, in conclusion about Do Hyeok, he’s trying. He acts as her knight in shining armor when Jae Eon is around and a warm lover boy when he’s alone with Na Bi.
Pretty sure Na Bi is noticing all of this somewhere in the back of her head but presently she’s too occupied with our butterfly boy.
Moving on to Jae Eon
He missed Na Bi. A lot. After being kept in the dark about what happened to her, Jae Eon couldn’t just sit and wait for her to get back. The very reason Na Bi went AWOL was because Sol-A lied about herself and Jae Eon which crushed Na Bi’s hope and further led to her believe that Sol-A was presently his girlfriend. But soon after that, Sol-A accepts to Jae Eon about lying to Na Bi which gave him perspective on why Na Bi was pissed at him.
It did sting him a bit to see Na Bi with Do Hyeok, but seeing how Do Hyeok was trying to put it out there (his fair chance for Na Bi), Jae Eon doesn’t let go of his chances. The tipsy friends were playing the The Whisper Game, where one person gets to ask someone a question in secret and the answer must be revealed in public. The people who wish to know the question must drink.
The male leads’ passive-aggressive competition starts here. After exchanging eye contact with Jae Eon, Do Hyeok’s question to Na Bi was “who makes you smile most among the people here?” and she answers to him, “Do Hyeok.” But when Do Yeon asked Jae Eon a question he said “Yu Na Bi.”
The questions was later revealed to Na Bi while she was treating Do Yeon’s bleeding cut.
Let’s save this love triangle for the end.
Yoon Sol and Ji Wan
YASSS! Team NH really missed them. In the past few episodes the storyline did not have much of Sol and Ji Wan, since they were concentrating on building up the plot for the main three leads. But this episode is just cute to the max.
Did Ji Wan just indirectly confess her feelings for Yoon Sol?
They say drunk words are from the heart and Ji Wan just proved the statement. I’m calling this an indirect confession because she doesn’t know why she hates it when Yoon Sol spends time with other men like Ju Hyeok and Yu Se Hun. It’s pretty clear that Ji Wan has feelings for Yoon Sol, but she just hasn’t yet realized it. For so long she’s dated only men and probably never thought she could be bisexual or even lesbian. I’m betting on Ji Wan being bisexual and Yoon Sol being lesbian, let’s see.
What shocked us the most but at the same time made us really happy was what Yoon Sol said after Ji Wan passed out,
All this while I’ve been thinking that Yoon Sol probably hadn’t realized her sexuality, but this scene makes me question my theory. So, does Yoon Sol know? What do you guys think?
I wouldn’t say she’s drunk or even tipsy for that matter, Sol looks pretty sober to me. When Ju Hyeok entered the picture, I had theories that he would probably be one of the reasons that helped Yoon Sol realize her sexuality. But looks likes she does have an idea.
Team NH is highly eager for this couple! Since I have some theories that there might be a season 2, I’m guessing their story will properly unfold in season 2.
Ahn Gyeong Jun and Min Young
Min Young is now living with Gyeong Jun until she finds a place for herself. And looks like her moving out isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Romance is slowly blooming for them and we’re loving it! Gyeong Jun accompanies Min Young on her house hunt but finds the most smallest faults like the bad door knob, which can be changed, and convinces her to stay back with him.
His mother makes a surprise visit and is taken aback to see woman in the house of man. Gyeong Jun lies to his mother about Min Young being his girlfriend and even tells her that he really likes Min Young, but the latter is of course not a lie.
I guess the best part is that his mother really likes Min Young! Now all that is left, is for them to become a couple and we’d like to watch how its slowly blooms for them!
Their scenes are so cute.❤️
The drama shows us scenes where we see Min Young admiring Gyeong Jun and how these two keep smiling to themselves every time they think about each other. Pure UwU.
Bit Na and Gyu Hyun
Bit Na likes Gyu Hyun but wants to be private about it and knowing Bit Na’s past relationship stories, Gyu Hyun’s insecurities heighten. He starts giving her the silent treatment. Bit Na tries to calm him down and tries to keep things going between them, but Gyu Hyun is old school and doesn’t trust her as he feels like she’s using him and finally decides to end it.
Bit Na looked hurt. I really think Gyu Hyun needs to give her time. We have already discussed this in the previous reviews as to how they’re very different people with different ideologies on love and relationship. Some adjustments is required for a relationship to keep going, which is not happening here, from both sides.
But if this is the production team’s way of giving Gyu Hyun’s character less screen time due to Kim Min Gwi’s controversy, I will cry. We don’t want things to end like this for them. Hopefully there’ll be a second season to give them a happy ending.
The Butterflies
In the amusement park, the friends plan to ride a large observation Ferris wheel to watch the sunset. Destiny in the form of Bit Na and Jin Su gave Jae Eon and Na Bi a chance to make up. Bit Na and Jin Su take Do Hyeok with them on the Ferris wheel to take pictures of them, unintentionally separating him from Na Bi. Ji Wan and Yoon Sol also stayed back to take the next capsule, leaving our two main leads to ride the wheel alone.
Most part of their ride was silent and awkward, with Na Bi breaking the dead silence by saying,
This is every romance movie and show ever, not limited to just Korean shows 😂😂😂 I can basically recollect so many movies from various languages with the exact dialogues! Not that I don’t like it, I do appreciate some clichés!
In the Ferris wheel, Jae Eon tells how he’s not doing okay and expresses his disappointment for not contacting him on his birthday. He literally gets down on his knees, looks her in the eyes and and says “I wanted to hear you say happy birthday to me.”
*You & Me Right Now*
Butterflies here, butterflies there, butterflies everywhere!
After The Whisper Game, all of them head to the beach where Do Hyeok prepared fireworks. Na Bi plans to head back to her aunt’s completely forgetting that Do Hyeok wanted to tell her something while dropping her off. Before she could leave Jae Eon enters. While everyone saw Do Yeon’s cut that started bleeding because of broken glass, only Jae Eon noticed that Na Bi also got cut.
Na Bi’s Mind Voice:
“I feel Like I’m Going to Crumble Down Again”
Well duh, Na Bi.
Before her efforts to stay away from him went South, she stands up and asks him to stop playing with her. But the butterflies start once again,
It was in this scene I felt he knew that he really likes Na Bi, more than just a fling. There is a greater chance for me to have totally misread or maybe even over read into this, but his eyes seemed genuine. He really missed her.
He even openly accepted that there is a girl who captured his heart, and for sure it is Na Bi.
Jae Eon kisses her and she gives in. She even avoids Do Hyeok’s call to continue kissing Jae Eon. Before they could continue Jae Eon moves back and asks Na Bi “Is this really okay” and “If we continue I don’t think I can stop.”
(Do check out the comments for various perspectives)
This is Jae Eon acknowledging Na Bi’s wavering feelings for him and gives her a chance to think before she acts in the heat of the moment. I think he now has an idea about Na Bi’s cycle and with him starting to feel something real for her, I’m guessing he doesn’t want to push himself too much or her. This is the cliffhanger of episode 7.
Verdict
At this point I feel like she should move away from the kiss. Even if things were to likely bloom for them, this time she really needs to move back, she owes it to herself. She is presently under the mistaken belief that Jae Eon and Sol-A are a couple, but this hasn’t been resolved yet in this episode. She wants a committed relationship and is very ambiguous if Jae Eon can give her that. These two really need to talk things out before Na Bi accepts Jae Eon, else the drama will just get boring due to the repetition.
Do you think she’ll take Jae Eon’s heads up, straighten her feelings, and avoid the kiss or will her wavering feelings take over her?
Keeping the main leads aside, we totally love how the story is taking off for Yoon Sol and Ji Wan & Min Young and Gyeong Jun. We look forward to more cute and emotional scenes for them. For Bit Na and Gyu Hyun, it’s sad to see that their ship is not sailing well at the moment, but we are not going to lose hope. Not so soon!
See you for the next episode!
