Hyungwon of MONSTA X and Kim Ji Eun will be leaving their respective roles as MC’s on SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’. The two stars began hosting ‘Inkigayo’ in April.
On July 14, Starship Entertainment confirmed reports that Hyungwon will be leaving his position as MC. Hyungwon expressed that he was grateful for everyone’s support and stated that he enjoyed interacting with Monbebes and viewers every Sunday as an ‘Inkigayo’ MC. He also praised his colleague ‘Inkigayo’ MC Kim Ji Eun and the other staff members for their hard work. He further stated that even though he is bidding farewell to everyone as MC Hyungwon, he will soon be seeing them all again thanks to his unit promotions as Shownu x Hyungwon. As per Korean media, Kim Ji Eun is also quitting the music show but there has been no response from her agency yet.
Hyungwon and Kim Ji Eun began to host the show after the departure of Roh Jeong Eui and Seo Bum June and received great love from the viewers for their hosting skills and same-age chemistry. Since the pair were selected as special MC’s, they will be returning to their respective main jobs. Hyungwon will begin full-fledged promotions with Shownu as MONSTA X’s first-ever official sub-unit, while Kim Ji Eun will return with the new drama ‘Longing for You.’
Hyungwon’s and Kim Ji Eun’s final episode of ‘Inkigayo’ will air on July 16 at 3:40 p.m. KST.
