Melon Music Awards 2018: Winners

The Melon Music Awards 2018 which celebrates it’s tenth year running,

was held at the Gocheok Dome in Seoul on 1st December and recognized the most popular artists from December 2017 to October 2018. The event was streamed live globally via 1theK on YouTube.

The MMAs combine online fan votes, digital sales, and judge scores to determine it’s winners.

Some of the more notable moments at this year’s show came in the form of Hong Jin Young winning her fourth consecutive Best Trot Award at the MMAs.

iKON won the Daesang for Song of the Year while Wanna One won the Daesang for Record of the Year.

BTS won a total of seven awards including two Daesangs and killed their mash up performance of their biggest hits this year. The highlight of BTS’ twenty minute long performance was the impressive ‘IDOL‘ stage which implemented Korean traditional dance and culture.

Another viral moment from the show would be BTOB‘s Changsub announcing that he would sing for fans till his hair turns gray. However he’d forgotten that his hair had been dyed gray and had inadvertently announced his retirement much to the amusement of his fellow BTOB members.

Apink delighted their fans as they used this opportunity to announce that they will be making a comeback in January.
