Trials and tragedies are a part of life, but this past year has been particularly challenging. However, amidst all of this, people have come together to help each other brave these difficult times.
K-POP and K-Drama fans organizing fundraisers or donation drives and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of people for a good cause isn’t something new and especially now. When the world is grappling with a pandemic, these fans have donated money, food, and medical equipment to hospitals and NGOs, showing us that humanity still exists.
The Hallyu wave has only recently spread its roots across India, a country where fans have different languages and are divided due to geographical factors. However, fan projects bring these fans together as one, beating not only the physical distance but also overcoming barriers of language. Today, we bring to you the story of Ji Chang Wook’s Indian fans.
It is no secret that the actor has helped out people in need; he collaborated with the MIRAL Welfare Foundation and has donated for good causes. As he turned a year older on July 5, 2021, members of the Ji Chang Wook Love India Fanclub decided to mark the day with special gestures and thoughtful gifts.
For starters, the fans adopted a snow leopard, an endangered species that is extremely vulnerable to poaching, through WWF as a gift to the actor.
For their second project, they joined hands with Akshaya Patra to arrange meals for people hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Akshay Patra is a non-profit organization that aims to eradicate classroom hunger, but recently they have been distributing food packets to people hit by the pandemic. Ji Chang Wook Love India Fanclub donated Rs. 25,000 through which the foundation provided fresh and hot meals to 833 people affected due to COVID-19 in Bangalore.
Not only this, but the fans also arranged for a small celebration at an orphanage. A cake-cutting ceremony was held, along with the Fanclub sponsoring two supper meals for the children. The thoughtful gesture also included a donation of essential supplies like disinfectants, diapers, baby shampoos, handwash, among other things that the babies would require, along with healthy snacks.
It is not the first time that fans of Ji Chang Wook have joined forces to donate and support meaningful causes under the actor’s name. Earlier this week, Ji Chang Wook International Team, in partnership with the Act of Kindness Society, distributed face masks and hygiene products to over a hundred people in Dimapur on July 4.
