It is a new month which means you must be bracing yourselves for new K-Pop songs, comeback as well as debuts. In June we were blessed with some of the finest K-Pop releases which is why Namaste Hallyu brings you a short list to revisit your favorite tracks of July.
POOL PARTY – BRAVE GIRLS (ft. DKB’s E-CHAN)
Brave Girls returned on 1st July with MV for their B-side track ‘Pool Party’ featuring rapper E-Chan of DKB. The Music Video is a summer bop with retro aesthetics and appealing visuals. With frothy and cheerful music the track has become everybody’s ultimate summer track to groove on. The frothy and cheerful rapper E-Chan of DKB makes sure his presence is felt and all in all, this MV is a definite pool party!
YELLOW CAB – DPR LIVE
‘Yellow Cab’ is the pre-released single of DPR LIVE which was dropped on 2nd July. It is a funky song with a kaleidoscope of colors in the music video with an old school vibe. DPR LIVE’s smooth raps blend well with the bass and make this song a catchy track. The plot of the Music Video is based on a love interest and ends on an eerie note where DPR LIVE meets an unfortunate accident. Watch the MV and listen to the song to know more!
RIGHT THROUGH ME – DAY6 (Even of Day)
Even of Day which is a subunit of DAY6 consisting Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. They released their second mini album ‘Right through Me’ on 5th july with Music video for the title track ‘Right through Me’. The MV took a deep dive into narrative arcs of each member where they are depicted as they suffer from Loss of different types. The concept of the music video, storyline and backdrops all goes well with the music and make this a soulful song.
TEAR DROP – SF9
SF9 came back with the ninth mini album ‘Turn Over’ consisting of six tracks with ‘Tear Drop’ as the title track. It is an emotional song with a minimalistic vibe, but the airy vocals of the group give it a sultry vibe. The MV’s color palette which is mostly black and white compliments the angst mood of the song very well. The overall concept of SF9 in this comeback is sophisticated, sleek and sexy.

WEEKEND – TAEYEON (SNSD)
Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation dropped her new digital single ‘Weekend’ on 6th July. As per the title, the song’s lyrics talks about chilling and relaxing on weekends with disco and city pop elements in the music. It has an appealing MV mixed with retro aesthetics. Overall it is a pleasant song at which we can vibe and chill on our weekends.
US – MOON JONGUP
Jongup is now back with his first mini-album titled ‘US‘ which was released earlier today. The album has five tracks starting with the title song ‘US’, ‘Photo’ featuring Bang Yonguk, pre-release single – ‘Find’ featuring Moon Su-jin, ‘GOUP’ featuring EK from ‘Show Me the Money 8’, and his debut single, ‘HEADACHE’ featuring Yunhway. PERMISSION TO DANCE – BTS
‘Permission To Dance’ is a classic, uplifting pop song “dedicated to anyone who is having a bad day or is discouraged in the face of reality” said Bighit Music. The song is a feel-good summer smash co-written by Ed Sheeran. The music video shows what post-pandemic life would be like. It features janitors, waiters, laundromats, elderly and children, etc who were most affected by the pandemic. The choreography incorporates the sign language for “happy”, “joy” and “peace”. This is another hit song from BTS.
DRINK IT – THE BOYZ
The Boyz released their new single ‘Drink It’ with the K-POP platform UNIVERSE along with a red and black vampire-themed MV which is exclusive for UNIVERSE users. However, a teaser video is available on YouTube in which the members flaunt their admirable physique and dapper image that only they could ever pull off.
WHEN DAWN COMES AGAIN – COLDE (ft. Baekhyun)
On July 21st singer, songwriter Colde teamed up with Baekhyun to release a soulful R&B track ‘When Dawn Comes Again’. Actor Nam Yoonsu features in the MV of the song as he is seen wandering around the city with melancholic lyrics. This mellow R&B song showcased the vocal synergy of both the singers very nicely with jazzy and lo-fi music.
GYOPO HAIRSTYLE – PEAKBOY
Peakboy released a fun new electro hip-hop track ‘Gyopo Hairstyle’ written and composed by Peakboy himself along with a very vibrant music video. The music video features the members of the Wooga Squad (BTS’ V, Park Seo-Joon, Park Hyung-Sik, Choi Woo-Sik). So Not Worth It actor Han Hyun-Min also features in the MV.
ROSE – D.O (EXO)
‘Rose’ is the lead single of D.O.’s highly anticipated solo debut mini-album Empathy. The song has an easy-on-the-ears acoustic sound and has a very feel-good and simple vibe to it. Unsurprisingly, D.O.’s vocals are extremely amazing. The music video is pleasant to watch.
KISS OR DEATH – MONSTA X
Monsta X released their new single ‘Kiss or Death’ for UNIVERSE MUSIC. The members of the group Jooheon and I.M. took part in writing the rap portions. In the music video, the group acts as a detective team that travels between space and time to discover clues.
DRIVE YOU HOME – JACKSON WANG (GOT7) x INTERNET MONEY
On 29th July, Jackson Wang released it’s single ‘Drive You Home’ in collaboration with Internet Money. The MV is cinematic with a tragic storyline, we can see that Jackson is happy at the beginning of the video but this fades away as the backstory unfolds. Jackson Wang continued his 80s inspired not only in a music video but the beats too. The hip hop beats blends well with Jackson’s Vocal
DIVE – JINYOUNG (GOT7)
GOT7 member Jinyoung’s ‘Dive’ is a digital single released as a surprise for the fans which the singer announced just hours before its release. It is written and composed by Jinyoung himself and as explained by him, the song is about “a sort of belief that if you continuously accept something, there will come a time when it will be filled endlessly like the sea.”
BECAUSE – DREAMCATCHER
Dreamcatcher released their new single ‘BEcause’ along with an eerie music video. The rock and synth-inspired single is from their ‘Summer Holiday’ Special Album. The group is known for their horror-inspired concepts so they don’t disappoint even this time with the music video as it features various locations like an abandoned amusement park and hotel clouded in artificial smoke giving it a horror vibe.
BONUS TRACKS
FIND – MOON JONGUP (ft. MOON SUJIN)
The song ‘Find’ is a slow R&B beat with a calming piano melody. It teases a new, emotional side of his music that we are excited to explore. The scene though was a short 20-second vision, the main characters from different generations including MOON JONG UP appeared, making us curious for the main MV with cinematic composition.
BEAM BEAM – SOYEON [(G)I-DLE]
Soyeon released her solo mini-album ‘Windy’ title track of which is ‘BEAM BEAM’. It is grunge with the punch of rock element pop song.
HULA HOOPS – DPR LIVE (ft. BEENZINO, HWASA)
‘Hula Hoops’ is an old school romance track featuring Rapper Beenzino and Hwasa of MAMAMOO and Produced by DPR Rem.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY – KANGTA
Kangta released ‘Christmas in July’ in celebration of his 25th anniversary on 28 July. It is a romantic pop ballad with a soft and pastel-ish music video.
