Amber Liu is back to gift us another beautiful album “y”?
After a brief break from the music scene, Amber Liu surprised her fans by dropping the single ‘Neon’ featuring Peniel from BtoB on April 9th. The peppy track was accompanied with a fun and colourful music video to entertain the viewers. Contradictory to the playful music video, the song is a sweet confession to a loved one as the chorus sings, “So let me be the one you can lean on.” As expected, the new release and collaboration was greatly received by fans all around the world. ‘Neon’ was also the first single of the upcoming multilingual album, ‘y?’ and it is also available in Mandarin-language version featuring Chinese-born rapper, Blow Fever.
After weeks, the has singer released her next two singles ‘Blue’ Mandarin version and ‘Vegas’ accompanied with music videos in all streaming platforms via EMPIRE.
As the title suggests, ‘Blue’ is a melancholic track featuring Masiwei of Higher Brothers. The penned lyrics express the denial of emptiness and sadness while missing a loved one. The story-line continues as the lyrics show the process of the protagonist overcoming the experience of the heartbreak. The music video starts with Amber Liu playing with a lighter as it symbolizes the instability of her emotions. The emotions are visually well portrayed as the lights in the house keep flickering when she starts destroying things. With ‘Blue’ , she once again proves how smooth she can be as a vocalist.
The track ‘Vegas’ is a catchy love ballad infused with synth pop beats. It is a fresh track that reminisces a trip to Las Vegas with a lover. The music video is simple as the viewers get to travel with Amber as she takes us for a trip to Las Vegas through the desert and enjoy prancing around the city. It is also an intimate look into the artist’s world with the fans getting an opportunity to hangout with their favourite person. With a rhythmic pop tune, Amber soothes her fans with another melody.
Amber Liu released EP X in early 2020 and had two back-to-back North American national tours. The artist further continued to stay active outside of music with visual language learning app, Drops, tapping her to teach Korean to K-pop fans and hosted her own show, “I’ll Ask The Stupid Questions” as an original program with international mobile streaming service, Ficto. Earlier this year, Liu joined the fourth season of popular national Chinese TV survival reality series, CHUANG 2021. As a mentor, she guided the contestants competing to be part of an internationally-acclaimed 11-member boy group, now formed as INTO1.
