Even though our leads managed to overcome the hurdles thrown their way last week, Episodes 7 and 8 of ‘Yumi’s Cells’ bring forth new challenges for Yumi and Woong. Though certain obstacles brought them closer together, will this week’s problems drive a wedge between them?
Review: Yumi’s Cells – A True Slice-of-Life (Episode 5 and 6)
Journey To The Center Of Woong’s Heart
Yumi’s Love Cell is her prime cell for a reason. It always has the best ideas and is the cell that keeps order all around. Without Love Cell, Cell Land is full of chaos.
Yumi’s Love Cell decides to visit Woong’s village when a wormhole shows up in Cell Land. It journeys to the special tower that houses Woong’s secrets. After several security breaches made within Woong by Yumi’s Love Cell, it discovers the list of important people and things in Woong’s life.
What it discovers there comes as a shock to most viewers, considering that Woong has always been very kind and considerate. However, we get a win when we see that Sae Yi is at number 11, lower than even meat dumplings.
The Wedding
The entire wedding scene is painfully relatable and quite realistic (we’re awed by how realistically Yumi’s Cells portrays real-life scenarios). Yumi’s assumptions about her ex, Woo Ki, her nervousness about Woong and how her friends will think of him; all leads to an embarrassing meet up with her ex.
Woong is sweet as usual, coming to Yumi’s rescue like a knight in shining armour and getting her out of the awkward situation. Though, we can’t help but be nervous, especially with Sae Yi trying to sabotage their relationship every chance she gets.
Emotion Cell
Emotion Cell was the catalyst for many things in this episode, which could lead to many problems for Yumi in the future. We could see that Woong was rattled by Yumi’s tall tales and can’t help but wonder what he would think when he finds what Yumi said about him. We can’t help but get worried that Yumi and Woong’s relationship might get rough after this, especially with Bobby’s entry into the show. Looks like we might have a love triangle (or square if we count Sae Yi) in the future.
Wedding Rumors
Emotion cell’s deception lands her in jail, and Reaction number one is prohibited. Others were shocked by the rumours, but Sae Yi understands something that would have taken many years to discover otherwise.
These rumours also lead to Woong’s marriage desire to open up. As a result, Woong & Yumi become more attached than before. However, Sae Yi moves into the same building as Woong, which might lead to miscommunication between the leads.
Yoo Bobby
While exercising, Yumi meets Yoo Bobby (played by Park Jin Young) in a park, although she can’t remember his face because the Male Reconnaissance Squad is on a trip. However, she notices his expression when he tells her about the expensive umbrella she lost.
He also informs her that he is an employee at the same company where she works. Yumi’s Guard Cells are protective and don’t want Yoo Bobby to come close to her, but the two inadvertently cross paths. They are now getting comfortable with one another. Will their friendship affect Yumi and Woong’s relationship?
Yumi wants to surprise Woong at his apartment, but she’s stunned to discover that Sae Yi lives in his building. She regularly comes to Woong for help, and this breaks Yumi’s heart. Will they be ripped apart by this discovery? What will happen in the future?
Verdict
The beauty of Yumi’s Cells is that most of us can find ourselves in the main character. We get happy for her, worried for her, and along the way find many reasons to laugh with her. Yumi’s Cells is brimming with the joy and the feelings of the cells. In this week’s episodes, we see how losing control of emotions can lead to several problems. It can have both positive and negative effects and may lead to problems in the future.
