‘The Witch’ started with the story of a young girl labeled as a “witch.” Isolated from the world, she never imagined she would experience love—until Dong-jin entered her life. And then… well, read the whole review, and you’ll find out how it all ends.
Ep 9: A final plot twist

The episode starts with Park Mi-jeong opening the videos on the USB drive Dong-jin gave her. Once again, we see all the efforts Dong-jin put into visiting her house and filming the place . The apology video from her old classmate feels like a significant moment as Mi-jeong breaks down crying, maybe getting the closure she needed.
Then, the story shifts to Jung-hyeok’s perspective. After losing his cool and roughing up a stalker who hurt a victim, he gets transferred. Eun-sil shows up to tell him about Dong-jin’s disappearance, and Jung-hyeok realizes he’s been out of touch with his friend. So, he starts an investigation! But wait—why did Dong-jin leave him clues? That’s the first big question, right?
As Jung-hyeok and Eun-sil search around Dong-jin’s room, they find his blog. Using the username “Shine on You” ( that glow-in-the-dark window message) and Dong-jin’s student ID as the password, they log in and uncover all the data he’s collected on Mi-jeong. Later, Jung-hyeok follows Mi-jeong, confronts her and calls her a “witch.” As he walks away, he confirms Dong-jin’s theory that he wasn’t harmed by her “curse” – despite violating all the rules – because he had no feelings for her.
Back at the apartment, Eun-sil discovers Dong-jin’s files on Jung-hyeok. Plot twist of the century! Turns out, Jung-hyeok is the male version of Mi-jeong—a “witch” too.
Episode 10: A happy ending

It opens with Jung-hyeok visiting the victim in the hospital and learns that Dong-jin had already been there. He then meets Mi-jeong, handing her Dong-jin’s university report. He tells her it’s flawed and that she knows the accidents really happened because of her. He then takes her to Dong-jin’s room and tells her what Dong-jin did for her. Another truth is then uncovered—Dong-jin was trying to save not one, but two lives.
(“Jung-hyeok was the cause; Mi-jeong was the reason.”)
We then learn that dong-jin’s in Austria, giving Mi-jeong space to process everything and (hopefully) open her heart. Meanwhile, Eun-sil confronts Jung-hyeok for updates, but he keeps his distance—subtly hinting he’s caught feelings for her.
Finally, Mi-jeong flies to Austria, finds Dong-jin, and just when he confessed his love to her, a storm rolls in. As he leaves, Mi-jeong stops him and admits she loves him too. Cue the hug! (that’s it? Not even a peck?)
Of course, Eun-sil and Jung-hyeok also get their happy ending, sealing the deal with the final rule: “Don’t leave her alone.”
Final Thoughts!

Okay, the show has ended, but let’s take it from the beginning. The show hooked us from the start, but let’s be real—is this really a romance? Feels more like a one-sided love saga to me (I mean, Dong-jin could have died, sacrificing everything for Mi-jeong, who could have been clueless till the end). Now, sure, he loves her a lot, but disappearing to “make her love him back”? Does giving space actually work? And let’s not ignore what some may find troubling: no matter his good intentions, dude was low-key a stalker.
And, that twist with Jung-hyeok being a witch also? Okay, unexpected, but imagine if we’d seen more of his perspective earlier—it’d have packed a bigger punch. And Eun-sil/Jung-hyeok’s last-minute romance? Please, that was rushed. Plus, the show never answered the biggest question: What’s the deal with the “curse”? Are they witches? Is it supernatural? We’ll never know.
The happy ending’s sweet, but something feels off (or, is it only me?) The plot started strong, then went off track with too many repeated scenes, a one-sided romance, and a stats-driven witch solution(really?). Am I the only one who thinks this show had potential but lost its way?
What about you? Loved the ending? Hated it? Still confused about it? Let’s chat!
