HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment are set to collaborate on a large-scale global music festival project.
On April 16, reports confirmed that the four major entertainment companies have begun the process of establishing a joint venture focused on concert planning and festival production. As part of this effort, a business combination report has been submitted to the Korea Fair Trade Commission, and a regulatory review is currently underway.
The project, tentatively titled ‘Fanomenon’, combines the words ‘fan’ and ‘phenomenon’, reflecting its vision of creating a large-scale cultural movement driven by global fandom. The initiative is being led by J.Y. Park, who first introduced the concept during the launch of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee in October 2025.
The company stated that the initiative, which is still in the early stages of review, will be “one of several cooperative models aimed at exploring the global expansion potential of K-culture, including K-pop.” It added that “stable execution requires industry-level collaboration rather than individual corporate effort.”
The festival is expected to debut in South Korea in December 2027 as an annual mega-event featuring artists from all four agencies. There are also plans to expand ‘Fanomenon’ into a global touring festival across major cities beginning in May 2028.
Positioned as a next-generation global music event, the project aims to go beyond traditional concert formats and establish a new festival ecosystem centered around fan participation. The initiative also aligns with broader efforts to expand K-culture’s global reach through public-private collaboration.
This move is significant, as it marks the first time Korea’s four leading rival agencies are aligning under a public-private framework to build a shared festival, rather than competing individually.
Further details regarding the project are expected to be announced following regulatory approval and internal planning.
