GOT7’s YOUNGJAE Drops Brand New Digital Single ‘Fermata’

On June 9, GOT7’s YOUNGJAE released his digital single ‘Fermata’, offering comfort and encouragement to today’s youth. Drawing inspiration from the musical term “fermata,” which means to pause briefly, the single represents the moment one takes to catch their breath and gather the courage to move forward.

The digital single consists of two tracks: the title track, ‘Escape To Me (Running Away Is Shameful, But…)’, and ‘HERE WE GO’.

The title track, ‘Escape To Me (Running Away Is Shameful, But…)’, blends alternative hip-hop with emotional piano lines, layered breakbeats, and intense electric guitar riffs. The unique arrangement leans into rock influences and carries a powerful message: “It’s okay to run away.” The song was originally pre-released during GOT7’s NESTFEST concert in Thailand earlier this year, where it resonated deeply with fans and received an overwhelmingly positive response.

The second track, ‘HERE WE GO’, offers a shift in mood with its breezy acoustic guitar intro that gradually builds into a full-band alternative rock sound. The lyrics, written and composed by YOUNGJAE, carry a reassuring message: “It’s not scary when we’re together.” His expressive vocals drive home the sense of warmth and unity, making it a track that uplifts as much as it energizes.

With ‘Fermata’, YOUNGJAE opens up about the importance of allowing yourself to take a step back when needed, sharing the message, “It’s okay to stop, and it’s okay to run away. What’s important is finding the strength to keep going.”
