A girl group with an average age of 13 is making their debut this month!
Earlier today, HR Entertainment announced that a girl group with an average age of 13 will be debuting under their label. ‘CooKie’, a five member group, is all set to release their first official digital album, ‘I think I really like you’ along with a MV on March 15.
Given the average age factors, it does look like there will be factors involved when in comes to promotion and addressing that issue, an official from the agency stated, “There will be some restrictions on the group’s activities given their age and having to attend school. However, they are ready to perform on stage whenever and wherever.”
Hannah, a member of CooKie, has already gained attention before their debut as she is believed to resemble Wonder Girls’ Sohee and hence is given the nickname ‘Little Sohee’. Although it is being speculated that CooKie is the youngest girl group ever to debut, that is not true. Back in December 2010, a girl group named ‘G.Story’ debuted with an average age of just 9.7 year but their last promotion was in 2011.
Another girl group, ‘GP Basic’ also debuted with members of average age 13.5 in the same year but haven’t been active since 2015.
Taemin from SHINee had also debuted when he was only 14 years but the average age of the group was higher. What do you think about groups debuting with lower average age? Do let us know your thoughts.
