Bryan Chase gears up for his debut EP with the release of his first single ‘Restart It.’
On June 23, hip-hop soloist Bryan Chase, ahead of the release of his debut EP ‘2U,’ unveiled a gripping music video for ‘Restart It.’ Released under THEBLACKLABEL, the track is a rousing anthem that represents the reset button and conveys the inherently emotional aspects of a rebirth.
Produced by 24, well known as the principal beat-maker for BLACKPINK, the track honors the artist’s early days with The Cohort, a crew he formed during Seoul’s budding rap scene. ‘Restart It‘ perfectly captures the rush of emotions felt during the inception of a new chapter in one’s life
Bryan’s upcoming debut EP ‘2U‘ consists of six tracks mixing various genres including pop, trap, and alternative hip-hop. Further, the EP features New York rap star ‘A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie‘ for the title track. The soloist’s contribution is distributed throughout the EP and the production was managed by his long-time partner JUNIORCHEF, BIG BANANA, and 24. At the same time, TEDDY served as executive producer of the record.
‘2U’ marks Bryan’s return following an exceptional appearance on fellow labelmate TAEYANG‘s 2023 EP titled ‘Down to Earth.‘ Bryan’s outstanding guest verse on the album’s final song, ‘Nightfall,’ as well as the accompanying live performance video, made an impact and prepared the way for his solo album.
“This album is an embodiment of my deepest thoughts and emotions, my highs and lows, my heaven and hell. This is 2U.”
Bryan Chase initially rose to fame as part of The Cohort, a Korean hip-hop group that gained widespread recognition in the global music scene. Their distinctive label, ‘Underwater Squad,’ became a sensation, attracting fans from various backgrounds. The group’s popularity surged during the blog era, receiving critical acclaim from influential platforms such as VICE, Complex, The Fader, and Hypebeast. The Cohort played a significant role in nurturing the underground rap scene and showcasing the unifying force of hip-hop across different cultures.
The Cohort‘s popularity skyrocketed when their ‘No Flex Zone (Remix)‘ gained viral traction on YouTube. This success propelled them forward, leading to a series of releases, The Last Orcas, distributed through 88rising. Among these releases, Bryan Chase collaborated with Keith Ape on the track ‘Let Us Prey,’ while their singles ‘Walkin (Remix)‘ and ‘Underwater Bank‘ garnered a collective viewership of over 14 million on YouTube.
Bryan Chase, originally from Seoul but raised between Texas and Virginia, developed a deep passion for hip-hop from a young age. He drew inspiration from the vibrant Southern rap scene, which greatly influenced his musical journey. His upcoming project serves as a culmination of his experiences and growth up until this point.
‘2U’ is scheduled for release on June 28, 12 PM KST (8:30 AM IST).
