EXO‘s main vocalist Baekhyun made his much-awaited comeback after over three years in 2024, with his fourth EP, ‘Hello, World‘ and its title track, ‘Pineapple Slice.’ ‘Pineapple Slice’ was a sweet yet spicy treat for his fans. Known for his velvety vocals, Baekhyun infused this track with a mix of funk and groove that kept listeners hooked. 3. ‘Roll Up’ by BLACKSWAN
Ever since Indian-origin Sriya Lenka became a member of BLACKSWAN, the group has gained much traction in India. Their 2024 release, ‘Roll Up‘ was a testament to the group’s growth and evolution, and Sriya’s rise as a standout idol was particularly celebrated. Nirmiti praised the track, saying, “An excellent comeback with the best vocals, MV, and dance.” She particularly loved the empowering vibes and flawless execution of the song.
4. ‘Cosmic’ by Red Velvet
To celebrate their 10th debut anniversary, the girl group Red Velvet came out with their EP ‘Cosmic‘ and its lead single by the same name. A dance-pop song, ‘Cosmic‘ has a light summer sound that compliments the group’s vocals. The track made it to the favorite list of Sharanya who is “in awe of the music video’s production, lyrics, and direction. They don’t just sing a song for the sake of it, but they tell a unique story.”
5. ‘Ice On My Teeth’ by ATEEZ
‘Ice On My Teeth,’ the title track from ATEEZ‘s 11th EP ‘Golden Hour: Part 2‘ made it to the top of the list for Jasleen in terms of the best comeback in 2024. This hip-hop and trap-inspired number with a catchy melody stood out to her. But what really made the song special for Jasleen was the message it tried to give—knowing your worth, owning that confidence, and standing your ground.
6. ‘POWER’ by G-DRAGON
One of the most epic moments of 2024 was when the legendary K-Pop idol, G-DRAGON decided to make a comeback. And a comeback he did make! When G-DRAGON returned with ‘POWER,’ the K-Pop world stood still, and fans cheered loudly. And was Nikita of them. She was captivated by the song’s electrifying energy, and it reaffirmed GD’s position as a trendsetter in the industry.
7. ‘LAST NIGHT’ by TREASURE
An upbeat, dance number, TREASURE’s ‘LAST NIGHT‘ is a feel-good anthem that brings joy to fans everywhere, and Tanya was no different. She shared, “These are the songs that make me happy,” perfectly capturing the essence of this energetic track.
8. ‘Supernova’ by aespa
To say aespa‘s ‘Supernova‘ was one of the biggest releases of 2024 would be an understatement. With ‘Supernova,’ aespa transitioned from their AI-centric concepts to girl-boss anthems. The song is a dance and hyper-pop song characterized by heavy bass and synth melody. Aaradhana appreciated their creative team’s efforts, saying, “Supernova’s styling and MV were so campy, elevating the actual song.” ‘Supernova’ showcased aespa’s growth and artistic depth.
9. ‘Winter Ahead’ by V with Park Hyo Shin
BTS V‘s collaboration with ballad singer Park Hyo Shin, ‘Winter Ahead‘ is a soulful track perfect for cold winter months. It captures the essence of cozy winter nights and is a poignant blend of warmth and melancholy. As such, the jazzy number took the number one spot on Renu’s list and she praised the song’s warm vocals and gentle sadness, making it a comforting companion for the cold season.
10. ‘Black Out’ by Chanyeol
It took over 12 years for EXO‘s main rapper Park Chanyeol to make his solo debut. His solo debut ‘Black Out,’ impressed me with its dark and mysterious undertones, and honestly, blew me away. The track has Chanyeol in his absolute raw and emotional form and that’s what makes the song worth a listen.
From soulful ballads to explosive anthems, 2024 celebrated diversity and creativity in K-Pop. These comebacks not only brought joy to fans but also pushed the boundaries of music and storytelling. Here’s hoping we get more of such groundbreaking comebacks in 2025!
