On April 17, it was announced that BTS will hold their for 2021 and for this concert, ARMYs and K-POP Fans will be streaming several performances from their past offline concerts, for free. After the drop of the posters, Twitter was once again taken by storm as ARMYs began to trend hashtag likes #BANGBANGCON21, #BTSConcertinyourroom, #It’sbeenayear, besides others. worldwide and in India as well. It was like last April’s history repeating itself.
“Bang” in Korean means room, which inspired the concert’s name “BANG BANG CON,” meaning ARMYs can now enjoy their idols’ performance in their own rooms.
The very first BANG BANG CON was launched last year, after the cancellation of “Map of the Soul” world tour, due to the pandemic that broke out and BTS held their first BANG BANG CON on April 2020, which was a two-day online streaming event, that happened on April 18 and 19. Eight of their past concerts were streamed and two months later, BANG BANG CON: THE LIVE was introduced to commemorate their 7th year anniversary. This live was a pay-per-view concert, that was streamed in June 14, 2020 and it was a smashing hit that holds a record of 2.24 million simultaneous spectators.
BANG BANG CON 2021 went live on BANGTAN TV, where spectators were given a 20 minute break after every concert, to restock their snacks. BTS members in a video playfully asked ARMYs to enjoy the concert in their room with their favorite food! As per Indian Standard Time the concert commenced at 11:30 AM and went up to 7:30 PM. According to Big Hit Music’s official announcement, the concert managed to pull off even more virtual concertgoers, as the views recorded up to 2.7 million simultaneous spectators.
The Event Line Up:
Ep.1 BTS BEGINS (MEMORIES OF 2015),
BTS 5th Muster: Magic Shop (2019), and
BTS WORLD TOUR – SPEAK YOURSELF SAO PAULO (2019)
ARMY also noticed that present Performance Director of BTS, Son Seon Deuk, was one of their backup dancers in the BTS BEGINS Seoul concert. Many ARMYs couldn’t help but be impressed by his talent and the recognition he received, that has has led him to where he is now.
Many people have joined the ARMY fandom especially during this pandemic, since they hand enough time and opportunity to get introduced to K-POP and Dynamite too blew up big time and broke plus set several records, so it is only natural that more people know about the band. New ARMYs were totally moved watching the dedicated artists and fans. A number of posts were shared all over internet about their experiences and their feelings, how much they yearn for this pandemic to be over so that BTS can start their world tours once again. For grandma ARMYs, this concert was purely a walk down the memory lane. They have watched their boys grow, from goofy Bangtan singing about school and teen romance, to them touching hearts and healing lives with their music.
The “SPEAK YOURSELF SAO PAULO (2019)” happens to be their last offline concert and this is an emotional moment not just for Brazilian ARMYs but for fans all over the globe. The concert had ended with their hit melody MIKROKOSMOS, an emotional song that is full of love and hope and the video showed how emotional the members got as they were admiring their admirers. Some members teared up a little, but Jimin couldn’t control his tears.
The emotions the concert instilled, gave an opportunity for ARMYs to share their stories when they attended BTS concerts. Amongst the many tweets, a thread of tweets by a Brazilian fan blew up, as the person shared a video, photos, stories of what happened before and during the concert, and even explained how much they had planned for the concert.
The tweets say that Brazilian ARMYs practiced all the songs in the setlist and even formed the Brazilian Flag with lights, not using the ARMY bomb, but “came up with a scheme of colors for each section and provided the wash tapes for the whole stadium. We put the tape over our phone’s flashes.” Pictures of those tapes were also shared.
