Big Hit Entertainment‘s power boy group BTS made their debut at the prestigious Grammy Awards held today (10th February) at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, where they were nominated for an award and also presented an award.
Although BTS did not win in the ‘Best Recording Package‘ category, it was an eventful and meaningful night for the boys.
Here’s a run down of everything about the BTSxGrammys moment!
Korea to Los Angeles, California
The boys set out for LA on 9th February but not before leaving a flurry of excited Twitter posts.
Landing in LA
The boys landed safely at LAX where they were greeted by excited ARMYs who were quick to share fancams of BTS’ arrival. The purple ribbon project was also in effect as several ARMYs maintained their distance and prevented anyone from getting too close to the boys.
Meeting Dior’s artistic director Kim Jones
Soon after landing in LA, the boys shared a quick group picture with Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior which had fans speculating that the boys would be decked out in Dior for the red carpet.
This soon caused Kim Jones to trend worldwide but what was even more amusing was the the trending of the word ‘Yoongis’. Apparently ARMYs were stunned at rapper Suga’s new honey blonde hair which caused a flurry of tweets about “Yoongi’s hair”.
Arriving at the Grammy’s
The boys stepped out of a Hyundai Palisade in impressive style in all black suits as they arrived at the Staples Centre.
The Grammy’s Red Carpet
Although it was speculated that BTS might arrive decked out in Dior, Gucci or Saint Laurent, the boys enlisted two South Korean designers JayBaek Couture and Kim Seo Ryong to design their custom tuxedoes. While JayBaek Couture designed tuxedoes for Jin, Suga, RM, Jimin, Tawhyung and Jungkook; J-Hope’s tuxedo was designed by Kim Seo Ryong.
Vogue were quick to point out this fashion moment – “By choosing these respected, but lesser known names, BTS used their platform to shine a light on their countrymen. Consider it the ultimate power move and a poignant reminder: That whether it’s fashion or music, talent can come from anywhere.”
The Red Carpet Billboard Interview
The boys were asked by Billboard how it felt to finally be at the Grammy Awards and J-Hope was quick to say – “It’s such an honor. We’re enjoying the ride.“
RM quickly added – “We’re living the dream” before thanking ARMYs all around the world. The BTS leader also spoke about his nerves regarding the group’s first time presenting an award.
When asked if the rumors that a new BTS album would be coming in May were, RM took the diplomatic, no spoiler route by commenting – “We’re working very hard. It’s going to be real soon.“
As for the theme or concept of the new album, RM described it as paying back to their fans but did not reveal whether it would bring about another album trilogy. The boys also expressed excitement at the chance to meet Lady Gaga, Camila Cabello, Travis Scott and their loyal ARMY.

Presenting The Grammy For Best RNB Album to H.E.R
BTS took the stage for just a few minutes (with their hit single ‘Fake Love‘ as background music) but made a huge impact. Breaking barriers as the first K-Pop artist to be nominated at the Grammy Awards as well as the first to present an award, BTS’ charismatic leader RM began his speech with – “Growing up in South Korea, we always dreamed about being on the Grammy stage. Thank you to all our fans for making this dream come true.“
But what made rounds across the internet was the conclusion of RM’s speech – “We’ll be back.”
Having Fun at the Grammy’s
The boys were seen singing along to music and enjoying themselves to the fullest at the Grammy’s. Their Twitter account was set ablaze with selcas from the award ceremony.
