Jackson Wang Releases New Single ‘GBAD’

On March 28, Jackson Wang released the highly anticipated music video for his new single, ‘GBAD,’ the second pre-release from his upcoming album ‘MAGIC MAN 2.’ ‘GBAD’ is a tongue-in-cheek song that emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries. The music video showcases Jackson’s Magic Man persona, who wakes up in a sunlit field. As he walks through a quaint, idyllic town, Magic Man is repeatedly called upon to save the day, from a man falling off a ladder to rescuing people inside a bank that’s being robbed. However, despite his efforts to help, Magic Man is ignored, overlooked, and underappreciated. Soon, he sees the reality of the people he is surrounded by and chooses to set boundaries to avoid being taken advantage of.

In ‘GBAD,’ Jackson embraces the reality that setting boundaries may make you the villain in someone else’s story. However, it emphasizes that it’s important to shed people-pleasing tendencies to protect oneself. As the music video ends, it states, “Sometimes… We gotta be a d*ck. Not to harm, but to set boundaries and protect our own will,” a stark reminder that protecting oneself is not selfish but an act of self-love.

‘GBAD’ is an alt-R&B track that pairs Jackson’s groovy vocals with the laid-back, jazzy production from Grammy-winning producer Dem Jointz. Directed by Rich Lee, the song is co-written by Jackson, drawing from personal experiences that he showcases in his songs.

‘MAGIC MAN 2’ is set to release in the summer of 2025.
