MONSTA X’s Kihyun has officially completed his mandatory military service!
According to Starship Entertainment, Kihyun was discharged from the military on the morning of February 21, after serving for 18 months. While no special discharge ceremony was held, fans had gathered to welcome him back to civilian life. Upon his discharge, he took to social media to share selfies along with the caption, “I’ve officially returned to civilian status!!!!!”

Through his agency, Kihyun expressed his gratitude to MONBEBEs for waiting for him and shared his desire to meet them soon. He also offered words of encouragement to fellow member Hyungwon, who is currently enlisted and set to be discharged in May 2025, saying, “Just please take care of yourself, don’t get hurt, and do your best until the end.”
With this, Kihyun has become the fourth MONSTA X member to complete military service, following Shownu, Minhyuk, and Joohoney.
Kihyun enlisted in the army on August 22, 2023, as announced through a handwritten letter on MONSTA X’s official fan café.
To mark his return, Kihyun is set to host a special live broadcast on MONSTA X’s YouTube channel at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST).
Kihyun’s return coincides with MONSTA X’s 10th anniversary in May 2025. With the other members hinting at big plans, anticipation is high for what’s in store.
