Wonho made his much anticipated solo debut under Highlight Entertainment (a subsidiary of his previous company Starship Entertainment) last year and took over the charts and he is coming back very soon!
On August 14, Wonho’s piano driven ballad swayed fans all over the world when he released the English-language single “Losing You“, along with its music video. While we wait for his second mini album “Blue Letter” to release on 14th September, we curated a list with the help official_monstax_india to vibe with and get into the comeback mood! And if you’re new to this fandom, get ready to join the fandom!
1. Open Mind
Open mind marks the second solo single release by Wonho. This Eighties-style music combined with synth and bass left a tremendous effect in the electronic genre of K-Pop. His vocals appeared husky at first but soon added a groovy and funky tone to it. The lyrics depicts a confident invitation to a “one-night stand.” The MV on the other hand is quite cinematic with the opening showing him getting ready for a young fun filled night. The singer is then seen contemplatively tossing a coin and with his breathtaking visuals he stands in a elevator that’s climbing up/down a skyscraper, drives through a tunnel in a fancy car and a dash of neon brightening up the whole music video. Quite the Wonho experience we must say!
2. Lose
Coming from the title track of his 1st mini album part 2 Love Synonym 2: Right for Us , Lose was released in two languages – English and Korean. His smooth vocals in this song carries powerful pop vibe with a mixture of club EDM. Lose illustrates the reawakening of a man who has been through an emotional heartbreak after losing his lover. The MV opens with just a few piano notes, his angelic voice and some moves in the rain and subtly throws in some extraordinary VFX of venial records floating in the air. The music takes a turn to a fast pace electro drum & bass and the theory speaks for it here after.
3. Lost in Paradise
This feel good B-side track is bound to cheer you up instantly. His bright and bubbly tone makes the song even better. The song talks about wanting to leave the busy life behind and escape to paradise with the one who keeps making him wait and leaves him feeling anxious. Adorably saying “Oh if I’m lost in paradise I got a feeling it’s you and I.” Though this song doesn’t have an MV, Wonho sure knows his fans hearts and performed it quite a few times but the most memorable one would be at MBC the KOLOR, where he performed a youthful choreography with a few of his back dancers, on an sumptuous yacht under the sparkling night skies.
4. Devil
A rather sensuous song that talks about artificial dreams, twisted memories and overlapping of good and evil. This is another B-side track that is quite different from his usual vocal attack. His hoarse voice is one of a kind, taking the listeners to a trans of wilderness. Such a sexy song and no video? that’s completely alright, because we have Wonho to the rescue. This beautiful live performance was a breathtaking master piece with magnificent play of red LED lights, Wonho sitting on a studio chair in a sleeveless vest and of course the occasional flirtatious eyes to deal with. An inducing yet an addictive song!
5. With You
“A sexy song with an equally sexy choreo” said a fan to describe this song, and we couldn’t agree less. Though the song doesn’t have it’s own MV, Wonho sure made up to it with his attractive moves. Watch his live performance and you’ll know what we’re talking about. The song talks about how he describes himself as dangerously irresistible to anyone and how he would like to groove and dance all night with each others bodies close together. He can surprise us with his lyrics because he knows what we want, doesn’t he?
6. Losing You
This meaningful ballad has spoken to the listeners in ways never before and if there’s a song specially and emotionally dedicated to his fans – Wenees, it is Losing You. He said that this song is an appreciation to his fans, whom he loves as they give him the strength and power to make music. The lyrics “coz losing me is better than losing you” leaves a resonating feeling once anyone hears it and it has become an unspoken confession to his fans of the fear of losing them. This mesmerizing R&B has also surprised us with a touching video on a grey scale with zero visual effects and a 100% detail to Wonho’s inner feelings on screen. With the MV in English, he has surely made his global fans feel wanted and recognized.
7. Ain’t About You
This collaboration with Kiiara left the fans in a daze. Part of his 1st mini album part 2 Love Synonym #2 : Right For Us , their vocals blended oh so perfectly. Just another one of his songs in English that’s got good rhythm and can get anyone to sing along to it. The song that speaks about taking a break from his lover for various reasons but just ends up saying “it ain’t about you”. The song is accompanied by a music video with Wonho dressed in complete white and opening the doors to what seems like a luxury room. Grabs a note stuck in a bouquet of flowers that says “Still love you” and the beats begin to play with him wandering around a fancy mansion. A definite and unique recommendation to his first time listeners.
