Not The End -HIGHLIGHT
Release date – 3rd May
Highlight made their long-awaited comeback after almost two and a half years with the EP ‘The Bowling’ and released the MV for the title track ‘NOT THE END’ on May 3rd, 2021. The group returned after completing their mandatory military services. The song conveys the message that ‘this is the new beginning rather than the end’. The song showcased mesmerizing vocals with an emotional message. The music video is very scenic and goes well with the atmosphere and this was the perfect fit for the comeback.
Hot Sauce – NCT DREAM
Release Date- 10th May
‘Hot Sauce’ was NCT Dream’s first full-length album with the re-addition of Mark lee. The album was a huge hit and broke several records by becoming a double-million seller. The title track ‘Hot Sauce’ is a vibrant and refreshing song. It has a captivating music video that showcases the spicy and sweeter side of the song and the catchy choreography. The overall song gives a Pop as well as synth vibe with addictive music.
Dun Dun Dance – OH MY GIRL
Release Date- 10th May
‘Dun Dun Dance’ is the title track of their 8th mini-album ‘Dear OH MY GIRL’. It was the group’s first comeback after the smashing hit ‘Non Stop’ in 2020. It is an enjoyable summer pop song. It has funky and groovy vibes with infectious music which makes it a perfect upbeat summer anthem.
Black Mirror – Oneus
Release date-11th May
Oneus is back with their 5th mini-album ‘Binary Code’ and dropped the MV for the title track ‘Black Mirror’ on 11th May. This album is the second release of the group following their debut studio album. It has a Michael Jackson-inspired themed music video and is a really captivating song with a smooth and groovy vibe.
Ain’t About You – Wonho (ft. Kiiara)
Release date-13th May
Wonho released the music video for the song ‘Ain’t About You’ in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Kiiara. The song is from Wohno’s album ‘Love synonym#2:Right for us’. The on-off relationship between Wonho and Kiiara is portrayed in the music video and their harmonization is a musical treat for all of us which perfectly suits the music video’s vibe.
Switch It Up (ft. Sokodomo) – JAYB (ft.Sokodomo)
Release date- 14th May
JayB dropped his first release ‘Switch it Up’ produced by Cha Cha Malone, featuring rapper Sokodomo, after joining H1gher Music. The live performance clip of the song was released on 14th May 2021. This is a slow R&B track that has very passionate lyrics with a sultry vibe. The music video takes place in a large dense forest suiting the vibe of the song. The vocals of JayB perfectly matched with the rapid fire bars of rapper Sokodomo.
Got It Like That – B.I x Destiny Rogers x Tyla Yaweh
Release Date-14th May
B.I. released his new single ‘Got it Like That’ in collaboration with Destiny Rogers and Tyla Yaweh and produced by The Stereotypes on 14th May 2021. It is trendy and hip-track with a laid-back sound. The music video is simple yet detailed. It focuses on the lyrics of the song along with the chemistry between the artists.
Next Level – Aespa
Release Date-17th May
Aespa is back with another energetic EDM anthem ‘Next Level.’ The music video was dropped on 17th May 2021. It is a remake of an OST of Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and the Music Video has sci-fi futuristic concept which seemed to be connected to their previous music video ‘Black Mamba.’
Advice – Taemin [SHINee]
Release Date 18th May
SHINee’s Taemin released his song ‘Advice’ which is the title track of his new mini-album on 18th May 2021 before enlisting for mandatory military service. It is an up-tempo R&B track with a soft piano instrumental and the Music video is dark and twisted and is a work of art in itself. We can also see amazing choreography and high-end fashion and is really a head-bopping gift to all the fans.
Happen – Heize
Release Date-20th May
Heize came back with her 7th mini-album ‘Happen’ and released the music video for the title track on 20th May 2021. The MV features famous K-Drama actor, Song Joong Ki. We can see a cute yet complex story between Song Joong Ki and Heize in the music video which feels no less than a K-drama. The lyrics of the song revolve around fate and it is a romantic track with hopeful and optimistic yet mystical lyrics.
Butter – BTS
Release Date-21st May
BTS released their 2nd English Single ‘Butter’ after Dynamite on 21st May 2021. It is a cool Dance Pop Summer Anthem. There is a reference to 2000’s hit ‘U got it bad’ by Usher as “Don’t need no Usher/To remind me you got it bad” and a salute to Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ at the beginning with the lyrics “Smooth like Butter/Like a Criminal Undercover”. The music video shows each member’s charms as they perform freestyle in an elevator during the dance break.
FIRST – EVERGLOW
Release Date-25th May
A trap and EDM song ‘First’ is the title track of their latest single album, ‘Last Melody.’ ‘First’ is thoroughly enjoyable and continues to expand the group’s bubbling electro-rap catalog. It is described as a song with addictive harmony and vocals.
Bittersweet – Wonwoo x Mingyu [Seventeen] ft. LeeHi
Release Date-28th May
Wonwoo and Mingyu from K-pop group Seventeen teamed up for the song ‘Bittersweet’ featuring LeeHi. The song is about friendship and love which develops into a love triangle. The vocals of the two rappers Wonwoo and Mingyu get along very well with Lee Hi’s vocals. It is a melancholy song with poetic yet cryptic lyrics and the MV is cinematic with rich imagery and shots.
0x1=LOVESONG (I know I love you) – TXT (ft. Seori)
Release Date-31st May
TXT’s new title track ‘0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)’ featuring Seori is the title track of their first full-length album, ‘The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE.’ It is co-written by BTS’ RM. It’s an arena rock track with undeniable anthem feels and heart-wrenching lyrics and a coming-of-age music video.
안녕 (Hello) – Joy [Red Velvet]
Release Date-31st May
Red Velvet’s Joy made her solo debut with ‘Hello.’ The remake album’s title track ‘Hello’ is a “modern rock remake” of Park Hye-Kyung’s 2003 song of the same name. The song contains a hopeful message to forget about the hard past times and face the new today. We can hear her delicate voice and outstanding vocals in the track.
