The 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) will reportedly take place in South Korea this year.
According to an exclusive report published on September 7 by Ilgan Sports, considering the COVID-19 situation worldwide, 2021 MAMA will be conducted in South Korea on December 11. This is the second consecutive year that MAMA will be held in South Korea due to the pandemic.
The report also mentioned the expected venue to be CJ ENM Contents World in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, the same location as last year’s ceremony. Mnet reportedly considered various angles to decide whether or not to hold MAMA overseas this year but eventually ruled out the possibility due to the ongoing pandemic.
Mnet is yet to release an official statement regarding the 2021 MAMA, but fans are hoping that Mnet will pay proper attention to the safety and comfort of the attending artists.
The very first MAMA was held in Seoul in 1999. From 2010, the event was held in locations outside South Korea, like Macau, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Japan.
