Renowned actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away at the age of sixty-eight.
On May 27, Bless ENT, the agency representing actor Choi Jung Woo, officially announced the unfortunate news of his sudden passing. The agency stated that the exact cause of death has not yet been revealed.
The agency further shared that the funeral service will be held at Gimpo Woori Hospital Funeral Home, with the procession taking place on May 29 at 10 AM KST (6:30 AM IST).
Born on February 17, 1957, Choi Jung Woo began his acting career in 1975 with the stage play ‘The Life of an Actor’. Over the decades, he became known for his versatility, voice acting, and delivering memorable performances in dramas such as ‘City Hunter’, ‘Doctor Stranger’, ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’, and ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’. His film credits include acclaimed titles like ‘Sympathy for Lady Vengeance’, ‘The Chaser’, and many more incredible roles.
Choi Jung Woo’s final television appearance was in the 2025 BL drama ‘Secret Relationships’, where he portrayed Su Hyeon’s father. Beyond his work in television and film, Choi was highly respected in the theater community. He received the Grand Prize (Daesang) at the Seoul Theater Festival in 1990 and was named Best Actor at the 36th Dong-A Theatre Awards.
