Star Cast Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran and Moon So Ri Unite For Upcoming Drama

Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran,  and Moon So Ri join the cast of the upcoming drama.

On August 10, Npio Entertainment officially confirmed the cast line-up for their upcoming webtoon-based drama ‘Jeong Nyeon‘ (literal translation).

Set in the 1950s Mokpo, the historical drama centers around a young girl-Yoon Jeong Nyeon, who is born with an exceptional singing talent but lacks education and funds. To achieve wealth, she joins a traditional women’s Opera.

Kim Tae Ri plays the lead role of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a pansori prodigy who relocates to Seoul to join the Korean Traditional Woman’s Opera. Pansori is a style of musical narrative unique to Korea.

Shin Ye Eun takes on the role of Heo Young Seo, a character excelling in dancing, singing, acting, and hailing from a prosperous family background, leading to a rivalry with Yoon Jeong Nyeon.

Ra Mi Ran, known for her hit drama ‘The Good Bad Mother,’ adds excitement as Kang So Bok, the charismatic and honest leader of Mae Ran Korean Traditional Woman’s Opera. Furthermore, Moon So Ri, acclaimed from the drama series ‘Queen Maker,’ makes a special appearance as Yoon Jeong Nyeon’s mother, Seo Yong Rye, a former brilliant pansori singer who retired to raise Jeong Nyeon alone.

The filming for ‘Jeong Nyeon‘ is set to commence in September, with an anticipated release in 2024.
