Upcoming MBC Drama ‘Undercover High School’ Teaser Sparks Comparisons to ‘Main Hoon Na’.
Directed by Choi Jung In and written by Im Young Bin, ‘Undercover High School’ stars Seo Kang Joon as Jung Hae Sung, an elite National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent. After a mission failure results in his demotion, he is assigned a covert operation that requires him to infiltrate a high school. His mission is to track down Emperor Gojong’s missing gold bars while maintaining his disguise as an ordinary student.
As he navigates the challenges of high school life, he encounters Oh Soo Ah, played by Jin Ki Joo, a homeroom teacher who was once his childhood love. Unaware of his true identity, Soo Ah begins to notice eerie similarities between Hae Sung and the person she once loved.

Though the teaser was initially released last month, it has recently gone viral, particularly among Indian K-drama fans, who couldn’t ignore the resemblance to ‘Main Hoon Na.’ The 2004 Bollywood film follows Major Ram Prasad Sharma, played by Shah Rukh Khan, an army officer who goes undercover as a college student to protect a general’s daughter while attempting to reconnect with his estranged family. Along the way, he finds himself drawn to his chemistry teacher.
Much like ‘Main Hoon Na,’ ‘Undercover High School’ revolves around an agent-turned-student navigating a world of teenage drama while handling a dangerous mission. The blend of action, comedy, and romance has led fans to call it the ‘Korean Main Hoon Na.’
Set to premiere on February 21, 2025, at 9:50 PM KST (6:20 PM IST), Undercover High School promises an engaging mix of high-energy action, espionage, and emotional storytelling.
