In celebration of Children’s Day on May 5, a wave of heartfelt donations from Korean celebrities is bringing warmth and joy to those in need. Stars from across the entertainment industry have continued their meaningful acts of kindness, shining a light on the true meaning of giving.
Actor Jo In-sung has once again shown his deep commitment to children by personally crafting sneakers for an orphanage he regularly supports in Gangdong District. Known for his quiet generosity, Jo has consistently covered monthly snack costs and gifted birthday cakes, pizza, and tteokbokki to the children. His ongoing efforts include inviting teens from the orphanage, individuals with disabilities, rare disease patients, and their families to film premieres, reinforcing his reputation as a humble giver. Since 2020, Jo has also actively participated in campaigns to fund treatments for children with rare diseases.
Singer IU, often dubbed the ‘donation angel of the industry,’ joined the wave of generosity through a collaborative donation with her fan base, Ueana. Together, under the name ‘IUaena,’ they contributed a total of 150 million won—62 million won to Eden I Ville and 90 million won to Hansarang Village. These funds will support essential needs, such as upgrading old heating systems, providing medical and rehab care, establishing self-reliance spaces for youth, and offering Children’s Day gifts. IU, who donated 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation last year, was recognized as an ‘Asian Donation Hero’ in 2019 for her consistent acts of kindness.
Actress Park Bo-young also made a generous 20 million won donation to Seoul Children’s Hospital to help improve pediatric care facilities. Known for her long-standing volunteer work, the talented actress has been supporting hospitals for over a decade, giving back on occasions like Children’s Day and her birthday.
Joining in, actress Kim Go-eun contributed 50 million won to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital to aid in enhancing medical environments for young patients. Since 2021, Kim’s steady donations have gone toward treatment costs for children suffering from serious illnesses, reinforcing her image as a quietly compassionate figure.
These acts of goodwill are not only making Children’s Day more meaningful for many, but they also serve as powerful reminders of the positive influence celebrities can have on society. Through their genuine efforts, these stars continue to inspire fans and the public to embrace the spirit of giving.
