K-pop artists are taking over the global charts!
On February 18, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced its yearly rankings of the top-selling albums from the previous year based on physical sales and digital downloads worldwide. According to the data, K-pop artists claimed nine of the top ten spots.
The only non-K-pop artist on the list was Taylor Swift, who secured the top spot with her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’
ENHYPEN’s ‘ROMANCE: UNTOLD’ ranked at No. 2 on the chart, while SEVENTEEN secured No. 3 and No. 4 with their albums ‘SPILL THE FEELS’ and ’17 IS RIGHT HERE,’ respectively. Stray Kids also claimed two spots on the chart at No. 5 and No. 6 with the albums ‘ATE’ and ‘合 (HOP).’
The rest of the list featured IVE at No. 7 with ‘IVE SWITCH,’ NCT DREAM’s ‘DREAM( )SCAPE’ at No. 8, aespa at No. 9 with ‘Armageddon,’ and TXT rounding out the top ten with their EP ‘minisode 3: TOMORROW.’
