G-Dragon Becomes the First Korean Artist to Beam Music into Space
On April 9, Galaxy Corporation announced that BIGBANG’s G-Dragon is launching his music into space. This futuristic initiative is a collaboration between Galaxy Corporation and KAIST.
The featured track, ‘HOME SWEET HOME,’ featuring fellow BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung, is from his third studio album, ‘Übermensch,’ which was released in February 2025. The event took place on April 9 at 8 PM KST (4:30 PM IST) at the KAIST Satellite Research Center, where G-Dragon’s music and a visually stunning AI-generated video were beamed into outer space. The video was created using Microsoft Azure’s OpenAI model, Sora.
This project marks a new frontier in ‘Entertech’, a fusion of entertainment, AI, and advanced technology. The goal is to preserve human culture in space and, potentially, connect with extraterrestrial life. Galaxy Corporation also noted that the initiative is connected to NASA’s Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program, which had previously transmitted The Beatles’ music into space.
As part of the initiative, G-Dragon also spoke at Innovate Korea 2025, in a special session held at KAIST’s Ryu Geun-cheol Sports Complex, where he shared insights on how AI is reshaping the entertainment industry. Notably, G-Dragon was appointed a visiting professor at KAIST last year.
