JYP Entertainment’s girl group, NMIXX, made a powerful comeback with their fourth EP, ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD,’ on March 17. The album, led by the title track ‘KNOW ABOUT ME,’ also consists of five other tracks: ‘High Horse,’ ‘Slingshot (<★),’ ‘Golden Recipe,’ ‘Papillon,’ and ‘Ocean.’ The final chapter of the ‘Fe3O4’ series, ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’, marks an exciting new chapter for the group.
In an exclusive chat with Namaste Hallyu, NMIXX spoke about their latest album, working with an Indian choreographer, their plans for the future, and sent a special message to their Indian fans.
The story behind ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’
NMIXX’s ‘Fe3O4’ series has a scientific connection; it refers to magnetite, a naturally magnetic mineral. Speaking about how the element connects to the album title, the group’s leader, Haewon, says, “Beyond just a scientific reference, this album title symbolically represents the force that draws different beings together and connects them. We see differences not as conflict but as a source of synergy, and we express that message through our music style, MIXX POP.” She further explains how the album “captures the journey of different individuals coming together to move toward the ideal world of MIXTOPIA. Like magnetite, it signifies how we all pull each other closer, forming an even greater force together.”
Member Jiwoo, the group’s main rapper, provides additional insight into the meaning behind ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’ and shares that the album captures “the pivotal moment when we finally restore our ship (MMU) and set sail toward MIXTOPIA with even more people. With a more mature message than before, this album strongly conveys the meaning: “Not alone, altogether. Let’s move forward.”” She further breaks it down: “In our 2nd mini-album ‘BREAK’, we were left stranded in reality (FIELD) because an external attack burned our ship. Then, in ‘STICK OUT’, our 3rd album, we challenged existing perceptions and frameworks to establish our own identity. And now, our 4th album ‘FORWARD’ brings that journey to its final conclusion.”
NMIXX’s connection to India
‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’ is an exciting album not just because it concludes the ‘Fe3O4’ trilogy, but also due to its special India connection. The group’s pre-release track, ‘High Horse,’ was choreographed by Indian dancer Paramdeep Singh. Speaking about the experience, the group’s makne, Kyujin, shares, “I haven’t had the chance to experience very traditional Indian dance, but the rhythmic and expressive movements in ‘High Horse’ felt connected to that style in some way. I especially loved how every detail—right down to our fingertips and toes—was infused with emotion on stage.”
Taking it a step further, Lily expresses her desire to collaborate with Indian singer Jonita Gandhi, whom she discovered while filming an Indian MV reaction video.
We recently filmed an Indian MV reaction video and saw a lot of music and videos from various Indian artists, and Jonita Gandhi’s music stood out to me the most. I even mentioned that I’d love to collaborate with her, and to my surprise, she responded! That was such an incredible moment—I really hope we get to work together soon!

NMIXX’s musical evolution
Since debuting with ‘AD MARE’ in 2022, NMIXX has grown exponentially—not just in popularity, but also in their music. Speaking about the music evolution, Haewon explains, “Since our debut, MIXX has been constantly experimenting with different genres, gradually defining our own sound. ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’ especially pushed the boundaries by taking on a lot of new challenges. For example, ‘High Horse’ blends hip-hop, breakbeat, and jazz into a really dynamic arrangement, while our title track ‘KNOW ABOUT ME’ layers an effortless yet intense energy over a trap-based hip-hop sound. Through these bold combinations, we’ve been able to express emotions more delicately, and each member’s vocal tone, rap, and harmonies stand out even more.”
Kyujin further adds that she wishes to explore jazz and challenge themselves in their next comeback, expanding their musical skills and the genres they experiment with.
Since our debut, I feel like we’ve grown a lot in how we convey emotions naturally within our music. Through these fresh combinations and musical progressions within MIXX POP, we always aim to keep the signature NMIXX energy and storytelling. This album is an evolution of that—both in terms of sound and the way we put emotions and narratives within our music.

Member Bae also shared a standout track from the album, naming ‘Papillon’ as her favorite. “From the moment we first received the demo, I just knew it would become my favorite. There are so many killer moments in the song that I can’t even pick just one,” she adds.
A heartfelt message for the Indian NSWERs
As their global fanbase continues to grow, NMIXX has a special message for their Indian NSWERs. Lily shares, “I hope our music can give strength and warmth to our fans in India. Whether you’re happy or going through some tough times, I’d love for our songs to feel like a close friend who is always by your side. If we ever get the chance to perform in India, I want to share those emotions in person, looking into each other’s eyes. Let’s keep going together until that day!”
Even though we’re miles apart, I’m always so grateful for all the warm support from our fans. Every message and comment we receive on social media truly means so much to us. I can’t wait for the day we finally get to stand on stage in India and meet you all in person. Thank you always—we love you!

Since their debut in 2022, NMIXX has been on a steady rise. Their first EP, ‘expérgo,’ marked their Billboard 200 debut, while its pre-released single ‘Young, Dumb, Stupid’ topped Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Chart. Following this success, the group embarked on their first-ever world tour, NMIXX Showcase Tour NICE TO MIXX YOU, covering 13 cities across the US and Asia.
With their latest release, the six-member group comprising Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin continues to break barriers in K-pop, paving the way for a new era.
