Can we Hope for a Moon Lovers Season 2? IU and Lee Joon Gi Share Their Views

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟮 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗥𝘆𝗲𝗼?

Moon Lovers is one of the most popular K-Dramas among Hallyu fans around the world and this historical drama has received so much love for its star-studded cast and killer plot that deals with a number of genres including, heart wrenching scenes, blooming love, action, tragedy, and more. It is a drama that will leave an impact on anyone who watches.

The drama came out in 2016 and since then Scarlet Heart: Goryeo fans have been waiting for a season two and seems like we have a ray of hope. Lee Joon Gi hosted a special Naver NOW show called “DREAM,” on April 17 in celebration of his birthday and IU surprise called to congratulate him, which was when the two stars talked about how much they enjoyed shooting the drama and their opinions regarding a second season for it. Joon Gi brought up the fans’ most asked question, that is if there would be a season two for the drama and if she would be willing to appear in it. 

She said, “I think all of us who filmed the drama probably feel the same way. We had such a great time filming it, and even now, there are so many people who love the drama. Isn’t that amazing?” Lee Joon Gi agreed and added, “Honestly, we never imagined that there would belatedly be so many people all around the world who love it.”

She continued, “If the conditions are right for us to all gather together, there is no reason not to do it. But if you’re asking me about my opinion only, there is no reason to not do it.” For which Joon Gi teased, “I was afraid you’d say, ‘Why should I?’”

The drama did not air some parts due to the change in direction. Joon Gi spoke about those scenes and said, “Our actor Lee Ji Eun (IU) showed the most amazing emotional acting that day. I wondered how someone could cry so sorrowfully. Even now, I cry when I see your emotional acting in that scene.”

IU also shared her appreciation towards his performance, “I do feel sad that we couldn’t show fans the scene where Wang So and Hae Soo meet, but your visuals were also amazing. In the modern day scene, where you have short hair and are dressed a suit. Your visuals in that scene where you handed me a handkerchief—it was really a shame that it didn’t make it on TV. Your fans would have gone wild if that had aired.”

The stars themselves and many fans know that a second season for the drama might only a possibility as there hasn’t been an official news yet even after all this years but their conversation has sparked teeny-tiny hope in fans to see Lee Joon Gi, IU, Baekhyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, and more to reunite for season 2!
