The much awaited BTS McDonald’s Meal has been available from May 26th 7PM(EST)/5.27 8AM (KST) in some countries while others are waiting for it to begin. In countries where the BTS McDonald’s Meal meal has released, within a day, the sales went higher because of immense hype and support from the fandom.
It was all appetizing and happy until some Vietnamese BTS A.R.M.Y came across the promotional poster that McDonald’s Vietnam had been using to promote the BTS Meal and giveaway along with it. The fans realised that the poster wasn’t even of BTS but of another group ‘EXO’ from their Dubai tour.
It was extremely disrespectful to both the groups as well as their fandoms and from then on, the fans have been asking for an apology from the fast food brand.
On May 28th, McDonald’s Vietnam, finally released an official apology and stated that they had removed these posters immediately but the apology seemed one-sided with no mention of EXO.
Some EXO-Ls were thus not satisfied with their one-sided apology as they believe that McDonald’s should explain their unprofessional behavior towards EXO for using their picture without their consent.
Both the fandoms have shown mixed reactions to this mishap and the apology. While some have been emailing the involved companies, some have taken to SNS platforms to convey their thoughts.
What are your thoughts about it? Do let us know~~
