On 2nd September 2021, it was announced by he Guinness World Records that BTS has entered the 2022 ‘Hall of Fame’ of the Guinness World Record.
The group cemented their place in the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame as well as a place for them in the ‘Guinness World Record 2022’ book with 23 Guinness World Records titles.
The Guinness World Record in their website stated that BTS’ “Butter” release, single-handedly snatched five records, including most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube (previously held by BTS’ success “Dynamite”) and most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours.
Some of the other records include:
- Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours by a K-pop group, fastest time to reach one million followers on TikTok (their current count is 40M followers)
- Most tickets sold for a livestreamed concert (756,000)
- Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours (“Butter”)
- Most streamed group on Spotify
- Most followed music group on Instagram.
- Most Twitter engagements (average retweets) for a music group
BTS began their seven man journey in the year 2013 and rose to international fame in the year 2018. Their tracks touch on themes like school-age youth and coming of age, mental health, the journey towards loving oneself, individualism and other personal and social aspects and is loved by many fans across the world. They have also partnered with UNICEF for their Love Myself campaign.
The hard work and effort behind their music also describes their passion towards their art and BTS is widely known to have made an impact in the world through their music, raising their voice on topics that they deem important and share a strong bond with their fandom, ARMY.
No matter what the world says, no matter their achievements BTS are and will consist of the Seven Music-loving Boys and their wings, ARMY! And as said by the Guinness World Record themselves, at the rate, BTS and Army are together creating records, it won’t be long before BTS have a book to themselves!
