Yook Sungjae of the K-pop group BTOB is set to return with a deeply emotional new single.
On April 30, his agency iWill Media announced through its official social media channels that BTOB’s Yook Sungjae will release a song titled ‘Lie.’ This marks his first musical release in a year.
According to a press release from the agency, the song “carries the various languages and emotions of a breakup.” ‘Lie’ is built on a powerful rock foundation and anchored by sincere, relatable lyrics. It captures the rawness of heartbreak with vivid emotion, drawing listeners into a whirlwind of post-breakup sentiments.
Yook’s subtle yet stirring vocal delivery is said to elevate the song’s melancholic tone, offering listeners a deeply resonant experience, especially those familiar with the pain of lost love. His refined emotional expression and signature soft tone are expected to highlight the emotional layers of the track.
This release follows ‘Exhibition: Look Closely,’ which dropped in May 2024, and marks Yook’s first new solo work in a year. The artist made his solo debut in 2020 with the album ‘Yook O’clock,’ eight years after his debut with BTOB.
Beyond his music career, Yook Sungjae has earned acclaim as an actor. He began his acting journey with a supporting role in ‘Reply 1994’ (2013) and has since starred in notable dramas such as ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ (2016), ‘The Golden Spoon’ (2022), and most recently, SBS’s ‘The Haunted Palace,’ where his compelling performance captured viewers’ hearts.
As part of a broader rejuvenation initiative, ‘Lie’ is expected to showcase a matured side of Yook Sungjae—one that combines his musical talent with a deeper emotional reach.
Fans and music lovers alike are eagerly anticipating the release of ‘Lie,’ which promises to be a moving anthem for anyone who has experienced heartbreak. Sungjae has also released a Live Clip (Band ver.) Teaser of the song to give fans a glimpse into its sound.
The song will be available on major online music platforms on May 6 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST).
