KARD’s BM also known as Big Matthew has dropped his new single ‘Broken Me.’ It is a collaboration between KARD’s label DSP Media and 8PEX Company, and the KARD member himself participated in composing and writing the song alongside Isaac Han, Aaron Kim, Walter Pok, and Vive Studios. The track is also being released as a part of the OST for the short film ‘The Brave New World’ starring Park Eun Seok.

‘Broken Me’ is based on his personal experience as a trainee. BM had earlier shared that he had mental health issues when he was 25 years old as he was jobless, dependent on parents while living in Korea alone and worried about his future. He shares his struggles and pains in the MV, while the lyrics take us on a rollercoaster ride of the emotions and struggles that he faced. The song is about going through these internal struggles and letting you know that you can walk away from them with time and hope.

I was speechless and almost in tears after hearing the track ‘Broken Me.’ The song is a rock-based song with a combination of beautiful shots, BM’s acting, and vocals. It’s a hard-hitting song with soft lyrics that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride.
It is a great song with a cinematic feel shot by the new tech which looks extremely appealing in the MV. The visuals in the MV are very beautiful and takes you in a different zone.
In the opening scene, BM can be seen walking through a dark alley with cut scenes. Also, actor Park Eun Seok can be seen in between the MV cut shots like getting out of the car looking down from the cliff, hearing something on headphones, and smashing the glass. The MV starts with BM sitting on a chair singing lyrics walking through dark alleys facing his darkness. Throughout the MV, BM can be seen in different clothes walking in dark allies, on top of the car, or smashing the mirror and yelling loud struggling with pain which we can see with BM’S expressions in the lyrics.
In the song, he channels his struggles in the lyrics, “Hide myself from the world / All of my scars Blind and deaf to all of your words / I’m bleeding inside / Heart is weighing heavy / Everything that I’ve been bearing / All the pressure that I carry / I know, I know I’ll end up on my own.”.
The track is about fighting a war with oneself. It is a song for the fans who feel broken. Personally, this song is so relatable, and the pain that BM is going through in the MV is emotional. For me, the lines in the song hit hard in so many ways. I can see many fans getting emotional after hearing the song. The track gives out a message that it’s ok to be in the dark as it is temporary, and there is always going to be a bright light at the end of the tunnel.
