ASTRO’s Moonbin Tragically Passes Away

(Trigger warning: Mention of possible suicide)

ASTRO’s Moonbin has unfortunately passed away at the young age of 25.

According to Gangnam Police Station, Moonbin was found dead on April 19 at 8:10 PM (KST) at his Gangnam residence by his manager, who reported it to them.

The police stated, “It appears that Moonbin took his own life. We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.”

Prior to his passing, earlier today it was announced that Moonbin will be performing at the upcoming Dream Concert as part of the ASTRO unit Moonbin & Sanha. The young singer was also promoting actively as a subunit and fans were eagerly looking forward to it hence the news of his death has shocked his fans.

His mortuary is reportedly being set up at the funeral home of Asan Hospital in Seoul.

Update: Moonbin’s agency, Fantagio has confirmed the devastating news and stated that the funeral will be held quietly with his family, friends and colleagues.

Moonbin debuted as a child model and ulzzang in 2004 and appeared on TVXQ’s music video for their song ‘Balloons’ in 2006. In 2009, he played the younger version of Kim Bum’s character in the hit K-Drama ‘Boys over Flowers’. He then debuted as a member of ASTRO in 2016 and re-signed his contract with Fantagio Music earlier in January along with other ASTRO members except Rocky. Moonbin was part of the group’s first official subunit, Moonbin & Sanha and had recently made their comeback in January 2023. The subunit was also touring in multiple countries under the banner of ‘DIFFUSION TOUR.’

Besides his talent for acting and music, Moonbin was also known for his bright smile and personality and was dearly loved by his fans for the same.
