Artist of the Month – KARD (카드)

DSP Media‘s four membered group KARD is Namaste Hallyu‘s ‘Artist of the Month‘!

With less than a week till Indian Hidden KARDs get to attend the ‘Play Your KARD Right’ WildKARD in India tour (concert + fanmeet) organized by Pink Box Events on home soil, it seems fitting that KARD be our ‘Artist of the Month‘. The quartet will be performing at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on 12th July and at the Shilpgram North East Zone Cultural Centre in Guwahati, Assam on 14th July.

The four membered idol group is the only currently active co-ed group in the K-Pop Industry and are also one of the most popular groups on an international scale. The group have made a name for themselves with their catchy, rhythm heavy music with its Latin inspired sound and EDM/dancehall influence.

Prior to their official debut,the group dropped a total of three project singles which garnered them much praise for bringing a different sound into the K-Pop music scene. Their first project single ‘Oh Na Na‘ featuring labelmate Hur Youngji (an ex-member of KARA) was a viral sensation with its addictive melody and hook. The track was followed by project singles ‘Don’t Recall‘ and ‘Rumor‘.

The group made their official debut on 19th July, 2017 with the release of their first mini-album ‘Hola Hola‘ bringing a bright summer sound to their music. The lead single off the album was an upbeat tropical house track of the same name that had KARD on their way to becoming a household name. Rappers B.M and J.Seph are credited as lyricists for nearly all the tracks on their debut EP while Somin and Jiwoo have also participated in the lyrics of the track ‘Living Good (Special Thanks To)’.

Their second mini-album titled ‘You & Me‘ dropped on 21st November, 2017 and debuted at #4 on the Billboard‘s World Album Charts. The lead single brought a dark twisted romance to the screen with a intense music video for ‘You In Me‘.

‘Ride on the Wind‘, the quartet’s third mini-album was released On 25th July, 2018 and saw a #8 debut on the Billboard‘s World Album Charts. The EP even went on to become the 30th best-selling album of July 2018. The group also toured several countries in Latin America in September and Brazil at the end of the month for their respective Wild Kard tours.
