BTS officially releases an animated trailer for 5th album ‘ARIRANG’!
On March 13, BTS released the animation trailer for their 5th studio Album ‘ARIRANG’ on their official YouTube channel. The trailer opens in 1896 with seven young men gathered around a gramophone. As they wind it up, the melody of the Korean folk song ‘Arirang’ begins to play, setting the tone of the story. The characters then board a large ship, cross the Pacific Ocean, and perform the song in a foreign land. The scene then shifts to the present, where BTS takes the stage and performs passionately in a concert hall lit with purple lights.
The animation concludes with the group standing proudly at Gwanghwamun Square, symbolizing their role in sharing hope and comfort through music. This concept was inspired by historical records showing that ‘Arirang’ was first recorded in Washington, D.C. in 1896, emphasizing the journey of BTS as artists promoting Korean culture worldwide.
BIGHIT MUSIC explained the idea behind the project, stating, “We wanted to share the story behind this song with those who are unfamiliar with it. We hope that many people will look up the lyrics and empathize with the unique Korean sentiment embedded in the song.”
Additionally, BTS also unveiled the first group photo for the album, showing the members in elegant suits reminiscent of the seven figures featured in the video. The 14-track album is described as capturing what “best embodies BTS’ musical identity.”
Alongside this, BTS will host a special live event, ‘BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG’, at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, which will be livestreamed globally on Netflix. ‘ARIRANG’ is set to release on March 20 at 1 PM KST (9:30 AM IST).
