On August 26 KST, TVING unveiled the first official teaser for its upcoming drama, ‘Dear X’, starring Kim You Jung and Kim Young Dae in the lead roles.
Based on a popular webtoon, the drama follows the story of Baek Ah Jin, played by Kim You Jung, a celebrated actress who hides her painful past behind a glamorous façade. Having endured domestic violence as a child, she learns to mask her emotions, manipulate those around her, and claw her way from rock bottom to the top of her career. However, her success comes at a heavy price, resulting in a gripping tale of ambition, downfall, and forbidden romance.
The teaser begins with Baek Ah Jin’s haunting narration: “Let me reach the highest place. Let every moment turn into an opportunity that paints me,” as she shines under the spotlight. But the tone quickly shifts. A whisper warns, “Did you see her eyes? Something feels off,” followed by chilling glimpses of her ruthless side. From cold taunts like “Try kneeling and begging” to violent outbursts, Ah Jin’s merciless persona takes center stage.
Yoon Joon Seo, played by Kim Young Dae, the man who chooses hell to protect her, delivers a grim warning, “For every person you’ve hurt, you’ll live unhappily for the rest of your life.” Yet Baek Ah Jin defiantly responds, “I’ll climb high enough that no one will ever dare to touch me.”
The teaser closes with a powerful montage of her many faces—star, manipulator, survivor—before ending with her chilling question: “What’s so wrong with putting yourself first?”
With its chilling atmosphere and Kim You Jung’s bold transformation, ‘Dear X’ is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated K-dramas of the year.
‘Dear X’ is scheduled to premiere this November on TVING.
