EPEX’s long-awaited return to China has hit an unexpected delay.
On May 9, C9 Entertainment released an official statement announcing that EPEX’s upcoming ‘Youth Deficiency’ concert in Fuzhou—originally slated for May 31—has been postponed. The reason cited was “local circumstances,” though further details were not disclosed. The agency assured fans that discussions regarding a new date and venue are currently underway and that updates will be shared as soon as they’re confirmed.

The concert was poised to mark a historic milestone—not only for the group but also for the K-pop industry at large. EPEX was set to become the first full South Korean idol group in nine years to hold a concert in China, making this performance highly significant amidst evolving cultural exchanges and entertainment relations between the two countries.
With their vibrant energy, youth-forward themes, and growing international popularity, EPEX had generated notable anticipation among Chinese fans, especially with their emotionally resonant tour concept “Youth Deficiency.” The Fuzhou stop was part of their larger global concert rollout, one that has aimed to spotlight the different shapes youth can take, both its power and its vulnerabilities.
While the delay is certainly a disappointment for fans who had been eagerly awaiting the event, the tone from both C9 Entertainment and fans remains hopeful. The agency’s brief but respectful communication reflects a commitment to finding a way forward, even as unforeseen challenges arise.
