The fictional K-pop group ‘HI-BOYZ,’ introduced in the popular tvN drama ‘Resident Playbook’, is set to take center stage this week with the release of a full performance video for their track ‘When the Day Comes’, featuring TXT’s Yeonjun and Soobin.
Following a surprise appearance in episode 10 of ‘Resident Playbook’, the now-disbanded fictional idol group HI-BOYZ is making waves once again. The group—originally featuring Um Jae Il (played by Kang You Seok), who is now a first-year medical resident—was shown in a nostalgic karaoke scene where he sang their hit song ‘When the Day Comes’. The performance was accompanied by dynamic background footage of his former bandmates, played by TXT’s Yeonjun and Soobin, dancing and performing alongside him.
A teaser for the performance video was unveiled on the official YouTube channel, offering a high-energy glimpse of what’s to come. The teaser blends dynamic dance sequences with emotionally charged visuals, using impactful lighting and cinematic camera work to amplify the performance’s intensity and nostalgic tone.
While only Yeonjun and Soobin appeared onscreen, all five members of TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) lent their voices to the track, delivering a rich vocal blend that adds depth to the fictional group’s sound.
The collaboration brings a touch of K-pop magic to Resident Playbook, a heartwarming spin-off of the beloved Hospital Playlist series. Known for its emotional storytelling and realistic portrayal of life inside Yulje Medical Center, the drama now adds an unexpected layer of nostalgia and fantasy through this fictional idol’s backstory.
Fans of both K-dramas and K-pop are eagerly anticipating the release, excited to revisit the fictional glory days of HI-BOYZ and see Yeonjun, Soobin, and Kang You Seok channel their inner idols.
The track ‘When the Day Comes’ will officially drop as part of the Resident Playbook Original Soundtrack (OST) on May 11 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), followed by the release of the full performance video on May 12 at 12 PM KST (8:30 AM IST)
