IU and Byeon Woo Seok are coming together for a royal romance like no other!
On April 21 KST, MBC officially revealed the broadcast plans and confirmed the cast for its upcoming drama ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’. The series boasts a star-studded cast, including IU, Byeon Woo Seok, Noh Sang Hyun, and Gong Seung Yeon.

Set in an alternate present where Korea is a constitutional monarchy, the drama follows Sung Hee Joo, a chaebol heiress played by IU, a woman who has it all, except noble blood. When her commoner status threatens her perfect life, she enters a contract marriage with Grand Prince Lee Wan, played by Byeon Woo Seok, a royal who has everything but the freedom to live for himself.
As their worlds collide, power, passion, and politics begin to intertwine. Noh Sang Hyun plays Prime Minister Min Jung Woo, a childhood friend of the prince and a senior to Hee Joo, whose emotions are shaken up following the contract marriage between the prince and Hee Joo. Meanwhile, Gong Seung Yeon takes on the role of Yoon Yi Rang, a woman destined to be queen, determined to sacrifice everything to protect her crown-bound destiny.
With a script that won MBC’s 2022 drama contest and will be directed by Park Joon Hwa, this drama is set to offer a captivating combination of heart, hierarchy, and high-stakes romance.
‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’ is scheduled to premiere in 2026 as a Friday-Saturday drama.
