The 32nd Hanteo Music Awards 2024 (32nd HMA 2024), an annual celebration of K-pop excellence, kicked off its festivities on February 15 at Jangchung Arena in Seoul. Hosted by Hanteo Global, the organization behind the real-time Hanteo Chart, the event brought together top artists, exciting performances, and remarkable achievements.
The first day of the ceremony was hosted by Jinyoung and (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon, who welcomed a dazzling array of stars, including Kim Jae Joong, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie, TXT’s YEONJUN, and many more. The night was dedicated to recognizing the most outstanding contributions to music in 2024.
TXT Takes the Lead with Major Wins
TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) dominated the awards, securing four major titles: Artist of the Year, Global Artist in North America, Top Touring Artist, and Best Performance—all considered grand prizes of the night. Additionally, YEONJUN received the Global Artist in Oceania award, marking his first-ever solo win and bringing his total to five trophies.
(G)I-DLE and Minnie Shine Bright
(G)I-DLE also enjoyed a successful night, earning Artist of the Year and Global Generation Icon. Member Minnie was honored with The Most Prime Solo, bringing her personal count to three awards. One of the evening’s heartfelt moments occurred when Miyeon, who was hosting, briefly left her duties to celebrate Minnie’s win on stage.
Powerful Performances Elevate the Night
The performances were just as thrilling as the awards. TXT captivated audiences with an electrifying lineup, beginning with YEONJUN’s solo stage for ‘GGUM’, followed by group performances of ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Over the Moon’, reinforcing why they were the evening’s biggest winners.
Other standout performances included Lee Mu Jin’s emotional rendition of ‘Coming of Age Story’, while Minnie dazzled with her performances of ‘HER’ and ‘Cherry Sky’. A particularly moving highlight was the collaboration between Insooni and Kim Jae Joong on ‘Goose’s Dream’, symbolizing the connection between K-pop’s past, present, and future.
The event also celebrated the next generation of K-pop, with SAY MY NAME winning their first award. Emerging artists such as ARTMS, EPEX, NOWADAYS, and tripleS also took the stage, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The production quality of the event was top-tier, featuring an impressive stage setup that provided a visually immersive experience. Mnet, TVING, and BIGC streamed the ceremony live, allowing fans worldwide to be part of the action. Viewers also praised the camera work, which captured the night’s most unforgettable moments.
Day Two to Continue the Celebration
With the first night wrapped up, anticipation builds for Day Two of the ’32nd HMA 2024′, set to take place on February 16. The lineup includes performances from RIIZE, LIGHTSUM, NCT WISH, and others.
Fans can tune into the red carpet event at 5 PM KST on BIGC, followed by the main ceremony at 7 PM KST, broadcast live on Mnet, TVING, and BIGC.
