A collaboration that connects two countries’ cultures and creativity through music – this is what the KOLAB is all about! The Indian Performing Rights Society Limited (IPRS) and the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) have come together for a unique joint venture, and they announced the Indo-Korean Music Collaboration Programme called KOLAB. Aimed to bring an exchange of both the countries’ vibrant and rich cultures and traditions, the initiative takes a striking step to encourage the making of original music that bridges Indian and Korean art of music. The programme will happen from November 6 to 12 at the True School of Music, Vijaybhoomi University, Maharashtra.

The event features the writing, composing and producing of original songs by 15 selected artists – 10 Indian artists and 5 Korean artists. Indian artists selected for the programme include Meera, Vaani Bhasin, Chintan Chauhan, Takar Nabam, Aryan Katoch, Kabir Sharma and more. This songwriting camp will further help in fostering creative explorations in the field of music with the expert guidance of musical artists like Bunty Bains and Mayur Puri. The programme will include workshops, interactions and the creation of songs that resonate with the essence of both nations.

An exclusive listening session for the songs created in this programme has also been scheduled for November 13 in Mumbai. Music industry experts and professionals will be able to listen to these songs and creations by Indian and Korean artists. Guidance, feedback and future commercial opportunities will also be explored by expert-artist interactions in this session.
The Indian Performing Right Society Limited is a registered society which protects the original compositions and musical works of composers and musical artists and covers the protection of their rights, license issuing and other such works for the musical artists of India. The Korean Music Copyright Association is a non-profit body that provides similar protection to performers and artists for their musical work through copyrights, licensing, managing broadcasting rights and other legal matters related to the music industry. A collaboration between both these significant bodies is a remarkable step in the advancement and rise of scope in the musical industry of both nations.
