With the upcoming 3rd album scheduled to release on 9th September, singer and songwriter Lee Hi released her second music video ‘Savior’ featuring B.I earlier today.
Remember the times when life starts getting rough, it is times like these that we need a ‘Savior’. Someone who would help us pass through the tough phase of our life. True to the name, the MV begins with Lee Hi standing outside a gothic style church dressed in a medieval-era white gown with a red umbrella in her hand. We can see her praying inside the church as a drop of blood slid down her nose, followed by the entrance of B.I, the former leader of iKON, dressed in similar era formal attire who hands her a handkerchief along with a rose shaped red candy.
Reminiscing about her childhood days, Lee Hi questions her savior (B.I), “Did the above one send you to me?.” The MV then proceeds further as the artist explains how her ‘Savior’ made her feel special, how her ‘Savior’ gave meaning to her life! But in the next scene we see how this feeling gives rise to a new fear. Fear whether her ‘Savior’ will always be with her? After all it is tough even for the ‘Savior’ as we can see him shedding tears and feeling sad.
Surely, her ‘Savior’ too has different things to worry about, as we can see in the rap part of the MV, performed by B.I. But rather than worrying over baseless things and a ‘foggy’ future, her ‘Savior’ wishes for him to be together with her in what he calls a ‘palace’. He then proceeds to crack a joke which makes her laugh and in the end we see them gazing at the distant future, together.
The MV touches upon some very sensitive topics, especially in times of pandemic. The pandemic has made us lose our loved ones and in times like these when we feel lonely, alone and frightened, we need a ‘Savior’ who shall bring us that hope and that small spark of light which brightens up the darkness around us.
This is not the first time these two artists have worked together. Lee Hi had recently featured on B.I’s “Daydream” a beautiful track from his first full album WATERFALL. They also have songs like “No One.” With every collaboration, the two artists makes sure they keep the fans wanting for more.
Following the release of the MVs, fans have started to react to the wonderful music, cinematography and concept and are eagerly waiting for the release of the album. Lee Hi had earlier released ‘ONLY’.
4 ONLY will be Lee Hi’s first full album under AOMG and will be out on 9th September, 6 PM KST. In the meanwhile, watch Lee Hi’s “Savior” MV featuring B.I and let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
