5 Must-Visit South Korean Destinations in September

September is a great time to visit South Korea, with comfortable temperatures (17-25°C/63-77°F), low humidity, plenty of sunshine and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. 

This month marks the beginning of autumn, with leaves changing colors, especially in the north. Festivals like Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), Seoul International Fireworks Festival, and Jarasum International Jazz Festival take place in September making it a great time to experience Korean culture.

Here are 5 spots to visit in South Korea in September:

1.Nami Island

Nami Island is a quiet and beautiful place in South Korea, located in the Han River. It’s a lovely spot with nice gardens and art, making it a great place to relax and unwind. The island is full of natural beauty, with soft gardens and beautiful art creating a romantic atmosphere. 

As the seasons change, the island transforms with vibrant colors, especially in autumn when it’s covered in a golden glow. This peaceful place is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life and finding some tranquility. Nami Island has a gentle charm that will leave you feeling calm and happy, making it a must-visit destination in South Korea.

Nami Island, a peaceful and scenic destination in South Korea, also has been the backdrop for many memorable K-dramas and movies like- Winter Sonata (2002), A Moment to Remember (2004), Boys Over Flower (2009) Goblin (2016). 

2.  Gyeongju Historic Area

Gyeongju’s historic area is a designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. As the former center of power for the Silla Kingdom, which thrived from 57 BC to 935 AD, it’s home to many ancient buildings, temples, and artifacts. 

The Bulguksa Temple is a beautiful example of Buddhist architecture, with stunning designs and details. The Seokguram Grotto is an amazing stone cave with intricate carvings. Visitors can explore the Cheomseongdae Observatory, the oldest of its kind in Asia, and learn about ancient astronomy. Both K-dramas and movies have utilized Gyeongju Historic Area as a filming location, including- Moon Embracing the Sun (2012), Splash Splash Love (2015), The Throne (2015), The Handmaiden (2016).

 

3. Seoraksan National Park
