On May 26, YG Entertainment released an official announcement video with Executive Producer Yang Hyun Suk. In the video, he provided detailed updates about the company’s trainees and rookie group, as well as shared insights into plans for their upcoming debut.
YG shared that their boy trainee group is currently divided into two teams, Team A, with an average age of around 18 years, and Team B, with an average age of approximately 15 to 16 years. Similarly, they also have two teams for their girl group trainees.
Revealing plans for their debut, YG explained that since it has been a year since BABYMONSTER’s debut, launching a boy group next would be the natural progression. Expressing his commitment, he stated that YG is determined to debut a new boy group in 2026. This will mark YG’s first boy group debut in five years, following TREASURE’s debut in 2020.
Further elaborating on YG’s future plans, Yang Hyun Suk shared that there is a girl group he is particularly eager to debut. He explained that the reason he could speak more openly about the female trainee team is that four members have already been confirmed. He plans to introduce the members one by one in the near future.
Following a format similar to BABYMONSTER’s pre-debut process, fans will be able to observe and evaluate the female trainees directly. This year, YG intends to share their training journey, and if possible, release solo tracks from the members next year. Due to the group’s exceptional talent, he is also considering releasing official songs accompanied by music videos.
With a wave of updates and plans to introduce new groups and unveil trainees, fans are excited about all the upcoming projects YG is working on. While YG is known for taking a long time to debut groups with highly refined skills, fans are eager to see what fresh talent and unique styles the company will bring to the stage.
