‘World of Street Woman Fighter’ is the fifth season of Mnet’s dance competition franchise, showcasing the talents of six international crews. Expectations were high due to the fierce competition and elite dancers like underground street battle queens and famous K-pop choreographers, but the show stirred much controversy and criticism, leaving many viewers either angry or emotionally wrecked. The last episode, for instance, brought some tears and backlash, with many not expecting the Royal Family to be the first eliminated crew.
However, in this episode, there were no tears, no confusion, and no chaos. Just think of it as a commercial break from the usual drama of WSWF and tune in for some fun with the dance crews.
Day Off Diaries: Vlog Edition
After the tension from the elimination battle, the remaining crews finally get a chance to take a break and explore South Korea. Not gonna lie though, it was nice to see this new and casual side of them.
Firstly, I’ve got to talk about Ojo Gang, especially Ibuki. Usually, she’s got that cold, sharp, and laser-focused mode while battling, but on this trip, she was laughing, cute, and friendly— a totally different vibe, and I think we all loved it. So, their team hit up the Dongmyo market, which is the same place that blew up in 2013 after it was featured in G-Dragon’s music video. You could actually feel their excitement as they explored the place, ate, and picked out clothes for Ibuki’s fashion battle.
But among all the crews, I think MOTIV made a good variety show guest, especially Marlee and Fantaye. The crew went to a food market and grabbed some ingredients to make kimbap. It was really fun watching them turn their cooking show into mini dance battles to decide who gets to eat which side dish with their kimbap.
On the other hand, RH Tokyo chose to unwind at a sauna. They played around, relaxed, laughed, and even surprised two members with a birthday cake. It looked fun, but if you looked closely, you could see a gap between the leader and some members.
Meanwhile, AG Squad’s leader took her crew for some shopping, and it was nice seeing all the members getting all excited over Korean beauty products. Afterwards, they hit up a gorgeous niche dining place — the food looked great, but the view was even better. The members were chatting and looked close to each other, and I loved the sweet sibling banter between Kaea and her sister Ruthy.
Finally, we have BUMSUP. Unlike the rest, they didn’t go for a typical fun outing. Instead, they went to a shaman for some readings. They didn’t go for fun, but as a viewer? I was laughing the whole time. It’s impossible not to have fun when you have Aiki, HoneyJ, Monika, Gabee, and Leejung in the same group (sorry, I meant Princess Leejung and General Gabee). That was straight-up comedy. But, did anyone else notice how the shaman — and mind you, these readings are seriously respected in Korea — didn’t specifically say whether BUMSUP would win or not? Although they asked her the question, she avoided it. Could that be a spoiler? Is that a prediction? Could it mean that the crown might go to another crew?
The Legendary Pool Party
It wouldn’t be a proper season without the classic pool party. After all the intense missions and emotional stress, I was really happy to see all the girls finally let loose and just have some fun.
They showed up to the party -which was filled with good food and of course, chilled beers – in casual lightwear, with some turning heads in bold, sexy bikinis. It was a cool, fun, and carefree vibe.
However, the party was then interrupted by a video of BLACKPINK’s Jennie. She wasn’t just saying hi, but she officially announced the launch of the Mega Crew Mission — one of the most anticipated parts of the show. Last season, after One Million’s iconic Mega Crew Mission video, the bar was set sky-high. So yeah, the pressure is on.
Bonus Section
So, the Royal Family was eliminated, but on ‘The Choom’, fans got a sweet little bonus — a video featuring the crew being invited to ‘MCOUNTDOWN’, South Korea’s best music broadcast program.
And guess who invited them? None other than WSWF’s host, Sung Hanbin, who’s also the music show’s MC — aka MCOUNTDOWN wangjanim (MCOUNTDOWN Prince).
The crew had an absolute blast on the show, meeting the host, learning his signature heart tutting move (that went viral from ‘Boys Planet’), and meeting Korea’s famous Bada Lee. The way they swooned over her and her dancing to the track ‘Smoke’? Totally relatable!
So, during the day-off trip, with which crew did you vibe the most? Drop your comment below and stay tuned for the next review!
