Dreamcatcher’s first sub-unit, UAU, makes their debut!
On May 28, UAU, the first sub-unit of the K-pop girl group Dreamcatcher, made their debut with their 1st mini-album ‘Playlist #You Are You’. Consisting of members JiU, SuA, and Yoohyeon, the group unveiled the album along with the MV for one of the two title tracks, ‘2 Months’.
‘2 Months’ is described as an experimental pop track rooted in Afrobeat, capturing the emotions of a relationship in its second month. The lyrics express hope that their partner will be on the same page in the relationship. The second title track, ‘Attitude’, is about moving on from the past and embracing a more confident version of yourself. Described by the members as a song that pairs well with cocktails, ‘Attitude’ features a slow breakbeat and a powerful, standout chorus.
Apart from the double title tracks ‘2 Months’ and ‘Attitude’, ‘Playlist #You Are You’ includes the B-sides ‘Sacrifice’ and ‘Good Luck’.
With UAU, the sub-unit is moving beyond the rock genre associated with Dreamcatcher to explore more diverse musical styles.
During a press showcase held to commemorate the album’s release, member SuA noted that, unlike the powerful vocals Dreamcatcher is known for, UAU leans into more airy tones.
The group’s name, UAU, which sounds like “You Are You,” also takes a syllable from each member’s name. Together, the trio aims to use their unique talents and charms to create music that inspires fans to be their true, free selves amid everyday routine.
Right after their debut, UAU is set to perform at the 2025 Weverse Con Festival, which will take place from May 31 to June 1 at the Inspire Entertainment Resort.
