On March 31, distributor NEW announced that director Min Kyu Dong’s action thriller ‘The Old Woman With The Knife’ (파과), starring Lee Hye Young and Kim Sung Cheol, has received an invitation to the 15th Beijing International Film Festival.
Based on the 2013 Korean novel 파과 (Pagwa) by Gu Byeong Mo, the film is set to screen in the non-competitive Panorama section at the 15th Beijing International Film Festival, marking its third international recognition after screenings at the Berlin and Brussels Fantastic Film Festivals.
‘The Old Woman With the Knife’ follows the intense story of a seasoned killer (Lee Hye Young) who has spent over 40 years eliminating targets for an underground organization. Her life takes a dangerous turn when she faces a relentless assassin (Kim Sung Cheol) determined to hunt her down.
Director Min Kyudong shared his excitement about the film’s screening in Beijing, expressing his hope that its entertainment value and emotional depth will resonate with audiences. As one of China’s top film events, the Beijing International Film Festival’s invitation further highlights the film’s growing international appeal.
